I finally ordered one online when the husband threatened to shave Biscuit - she's fluffing so much thanks to the change in season and I think she's losing her puppy coat as well!

Very excited, can't wait to do more than just pull out tufts (of which there are many) and really start cleaning up her undercoat.

For those of you who have used the furminator or similar, after the first big go (planned for tomorrow evening - a great way to spend Friday evening!), do you find you just use it weekly unless they're blowing their coats in a major way? Do you bribe with treats or have you trained your corgi to sit there and endure it? Do any of them really enjoy it?

Thanks for your time!

I use mine every week or two depending on how much they're shedding. I also have a regular slicker brush that I use for the chest/legs/pants area. I bait them with a treat while I do it, neither of mine love being brushed so it's just easier.
Oh, furminate outside if you can. The furs will be flying!
Yes, definately outside! I did Teddy today and man, what a mess. I only use the furminator on him about once a month as it can be rough of the coat and I don't want to over do it. Teddy is very good about being brushed and I don't have to bait during the process. I do give him a nice chew after we are done.
Good thinking, I didn't even consider what a mess we'd make inside! Thank you!

I use a slicker for her chest, but seriously every other part of her coat is just so dense and fluffy it doesn't do too much.

Biscuit will 'endure' the brushing for a few minutes before she tries to play with the brush (not to mention trying to eat any loose hair that flys off!) so it ends up being a two person job, one to bait (better word than bribe :D) and one to brush.

It sounds weird maybe, but I can't wait to get into it! Already told the husband it's on the agenda for Friday night!
I should be using it once a week, but I am sometimes a bad mom. It is the only brush I use. Both my corgi's love. One tries to lick me while I brush because he likes it, the other just melts and lays down almost falling asleep. I think it feels really good to get the itchy old hair out. My "licky" dog is invigorated after and we have to have a play session.

My dogs didn't like other brushes I used but you'll be surprised how good your corgi will be for the furminator.
I will echo here..... definitely outside!!! : )

Griffyn will let me furminate for almost as long as I want. Soffie...... well, let's just say she tolerates it. I confess, I'm not as diligent as I should be so by the time we sit down to do it .... it's a chore. And I always say to myself afterward, Now, I'm going to do this weekly!! I'll let you know how that works out!! LOL!!! : )

More photos here.

Weekly is good, after bath / drying / brushing is good.

You want to associate your dog and the brush in a positive way, practice "fake brushing" with the back of the brush, treat is good, you want them to relax and not move around. Ours learn to enjoy the furminating sessions, they get massage and often roll over for belly rubs. check out our photos.
Look at all that fur, lucky you have a Dyson!
thanks for all the help!

We had round one outside last night, lots of fur flying, lots of treats... now she thinks it's fun and keeps trying to play with the brush, so maybe we've made it TOO fun for her! Can't believe all the fluff that came out, and it was only a short session (I thought I'd slowly build up the time spent brushing, since staying still for a long time can be a little difficult for her!)

I was massaging (she loves long nails) and someone else had the brush, we were both covered by the end of it but it went really well. Will post photos after the next session, it looked like a white Christmas!
Saturday we did a quick 5 minutes, tonight was a solid 15 minutes. She was happy enough to chew while I brushed, got up a few times to leave but thankfully she's obedient when told to come back to her 'mat'!

Daisy loves to get brushed, she thinks it is a treat. She also thinks fetch is better than any treat.
