I waited until after her first heat so about 10 months
I think I done LO too early, was close to 6 months and he never developed the deep corgi chest. May be a design flaw or the neutering but I would not do it again until closer to a year.
I wanted to let everyone know that Mauser Marksman owned by Bree Babin who started this discussion has crossed the bridge on Dec. 28, 2010. Bree as you can imagine is greatly saddened and grieving at the moment. He will be missed and did touch the hearts of many. RIP Mauser Marksman aka Little Marker Boy
OM goodness, I am crying my eyes out. What happened to the little guy. Poor Bree.
RIP Mauser - he sure had a lot of fans on facebook! We will miss him. I hope you are doing ok Bree and know that there is a whole community of corgi friends out there to support you in this time.
Ein developed the Corgi Chest even if he was neutered. If there was a way to stop the grand corgi chest I would have. I could have dressed Ein up easier but I understand what you are saying. Some Corgis are naturally small, even on the chest and it could be caused by nature or hormones. I hope that next time you'll get your desired result.
Actually the placement of the posterior sternum will indicate a chest drop...some have a more pronounced chest then others which can be genetic but if parents have a good chest and most the litter mates more then likely its the placement of the sternum. When they are pups you feel for the protrusion on the chest and it should be midway through the body. If it is to low or high you may not get the great chest that makes them look so regal. This can take some time as well. Pronounced chests can happen more at 2 yrs old.

My male was neutered at six months and has a huge deep chest, quite impressive!  My girl has quite a deep chest as well, though obviously not quite as deep as the male's.  My early-neutered by also marks prolifically (outside!) and has quite an interest in the ladies.

Big-chested Corgi:

Corky got neuterd at 6 mos and I think it was just right, he never humps anything and doesnt have to stop and smell and pee on every little thing we pass, like my daughters little guy that got nuetered slightly later. He finally now is just starting to lift his leg:)  and he is 21/2. So I think we got him before he had any puberty hit him!

Actually have to admit I have a puppy store corgi, I know , know I shouldn't have. I was in mourning for my first corgi (max, may he rest in peace) and came across Lando Oliver. Even in 2008 it was still an anomaly to see a puppy corgi anywhere. So he is surely not a good example of a corgi. But I do love the deep chest. A couple of years ago I had actually bought a corgi puppy and I always wondered if it was from Wendt Worth, the breeder from what I can remember was from up there (illinois). However Mable was suffocated by momma corgi at about   5 weeks old.
Awe...how horrible! Nope..not one of mine. I don't sell my pups to other breeders easily and none of my pups that went to Illinois was with open registration and I stay intouch with my past buyers, some more then others.

The puppy wasn't sent to another breeder. I put a down payment on a puppy and I was saying that the breeder was from up there (I said illinois) but I really meant from illinois or ohio or maybe Indiana, one of those states.

The puppy was named Mabel but the email I got stated that she had passed (momma had possibly sufocated her) and I believe Mable was about  5 weeks.

I never recieved the puppy as she passed at around 5 weeks.
