am i being over reacted or should i worry?

when i take him out i am alway there with him until he has done his business but sometimes i am in a hurry and leave him out there for about 20mins. i am worried that in that time someone will steal him even though i am always looking out the window. i mean we live on the air force base but i dont trust so easily. he has his tags on and is microchiped but still, i havnt seen one corgi here DC or SC for that matter and cant help the though crossing my mind that someone will snatch him but like i said if i am in a rush and he has to go i really dont have a choice at times.

there is a gate on our fence but i suppose if someone really wanted him they would just jump the fence. i see people just leaving there dogs out for hours but i dont feel so sure. my husband thinks i am very reacting but idk:(

thats a good idea John! lol i am thinking of getting motion alarms and putting in a rose bush sounds good. that will make anyone think twice about entering my yard! lol
Rebecca Marie...I am a worrier too.   I don't think I could leave my pups out by themselves for even 20 minutes...my trust level is low!   It is my job to protect my fur babies and I take my job very seriously.   So I'm with you, go with your gut feelings.   I can't even imagine what a stolen pup might go through...I would be devastated !!!
thank you. i feel the same, i am his "mom" and part of my job is to keep him safe. sometimes i feel so over protective but i just cant help it as i love him with all my heart and soul

I would definately keep an eye out. You could always use outside motion lights and set them to motion, so whenever someone passes by, the light would turn on. I also like the idea of the 10ft tie out...just be careful.

My mom had a friend who's corgi was stolen right from his yard, and he lives in a rural farm country. Luckily he got his dog back. Is there any way you could leave your dog inside while your gone?

hi Kristan, when i do leave the house i put teddy in has crate as if i left him outside while not being in the house would terrify me. but when i am in a rush and he needs to go potty thats when i leave him out there by himself(or i should say use to) after reading everything posted and the thought of him being stolen, i just couldnt bear it. i will always be sure to make time for him instead of risking it:)

i am sorry that your moms friend had hers stolen but that is good news she got him back, thats very rare these days

Unfortunately, there are people out there that don't realize that our pups are family and taking them isn't like swiping a car stereo and have no morals so you are right to make sure that your lil one is safe.  If you lived out in the country where it was secluded, etc..I would say no worries.  However, suburbia, military bases, townhome communities are usuallly so busy that no one would notice.

I have my pups microchipped and our vet checks all new pets they see for microchips but not all vets are so thorough.

Good Luck.

thank you Rachelle. u are very right. seems like now a days people just dont have any morals. teddy is part of my family, not "just" a dog. i love him with all my heart and soul and cant imagine getting up in the morning with out him. he is my little buddy and we have such a strong bond with each other. i wish people would think before they would do something so horrible. i cant imagine if someone stole him and use him for bait fighting! he is such a sensitive soul..

he is also microchiped and wears all of his tags all day except at night. my one cat is also but my other cat isnt so he wears tags 24/7 with his name and our phone number/rabies tag.
