Quin is so sensitive I really have to be careful about what i give her for treats, it makes it hard for training.  I am afraid I am going to give her diarrhea.

The day before yesterday she got into the  trash while I was at the dentist. ( I need a higher trash can )  So after eating what ever it was she found in the trash, paper towels with grease on them or any number of goodie,  all day yesterday she didn't eat at all!!   I was a bit worried but she ate this morning so I guess she is ok also no diarrhea this time  but,  my other dog before her could eat anything and it never bothered him (he was a Shih Tzu mix) so... are corgis more sensitive in general or did I just get a princess?

Every corgi is different, I have 4 in my house at the moment and both cardis have iron stomachs, they eat snow / salt / slush from the sidewalk and there's no vomit or loose stool, if it was mocha? Fugetaboutit :)

One needs to baby-proof the house re. edibles (and not-really-edibles; we have the catbox screened-off with an old baby gate, and I've heard of swallowed tampons necessitating surgical removal).  They say that cooked bones are bad for dogs, so make sure that kind of kitchen waste is inaccessible.  Beware Organized Crime: we've suspected that the cat, who can climb up onto counters, has knocked things onto the floor for the corgis, who cannot, in return for a piece of the action.

We keep our kitchen waste in a 160lb. Diebold safe, change the combination every 2 months, and the garbage men get an armed escort..

I don't think there's a garbage can in my house on the floor - the kitchen one sits up on a stool, the bathroom one sits on the back of the commode and the office one sits on the table by the printer.  I haven't tossed a pair of socks on the floor in years.

im cracking up right now!!! this describes my house and our garbage to a T . never mind the socks!!! she even steals my underwear out of the dirty cloths!!

tonight my granddaughter was here doing school work and one of her crayons fell on the floor and yep Carly scoops it up with in 2 seconds its down the hatch and im screaming that's not good for her!!!

oh boy~ please tell me i they get better with age..

I've done all kinds of treats for training, from premium commercial treats (like Zuke's) to chicken, beef jerky, peanut butter and cheese. Not one treat has caused stomach upset in my two cardis.  I think it really does depend on the dog.

I've been taught that some Corgis cannot handle Ultra-Premium foods - That such foods are simply "too rich" for a dog bred to survive on scraps.

I like Nature's Recipe's "Sensitive Stomach" formula.

Just a thought.

Our 4 Cardigans and our previous two Cardigans seemed to have iron clad stomachs.  Much as I to avoid it the walks are almost like trips to the all you can eat buffet.  You name it one or all of them would feel just fine about eating it.

I wish I had a cardi with an iron stomach!

Thanks every one for the replys  I kinda figured that she is just a bit sensitive in the tummy, I have started giving her very small pieces of human beef jerky, way cheaper than dog treats, and she seems to be fine with it.   I have been corgi proofing the rest of the house little by little  the cat box is on a table in the laundry room and I just recently ( after the last trash raid) put the kitchen trash up on a box, the bathroom trashcans have lids and my dirty clothes are in a basket which she seem to leave alone, as long as they aren't on the floor.

John, my cat and Quin do work in tandem.  The other day I left for awhile, and I had been painting so I put all my paints away and covered my painting I have come home to a painting with cat prints on it arghh!!  ( I do watercolor) but I must have missed a brush, when I came home one of my favorite brushes was chewed up. The handle was in pieces and the brush head... nowhere to be found.  Watercolor brushes can run upward of $100.00 luckily it was a cheaper one. so from now on I make sure they are put in the drawer before I leave so that the CAT can't knock them off.

Favorite treat in my house - cereal and the pieces are already small!  Mine will do flips for a single rice krispie or a corn flake.  I stay away from the sugary ones - AND I shake the box as an around the house recall - works like a charm :)
Never had an issue with trash cans until we got the catahoula.  He taught the corgis all about trash!  The cans now lock and the kids are kept away from them!  Ours are all different.  Some do fine with whatever you give them.  A couple have sensitive tummies.  Generally, they don't get treats unless we're doing training of some sort.  And then, I try to get treats that do not have any big offenders (like corn, wheat, etc).  If I'm smart with what I buy, they generally do just fine.  Of course, I adjust their food rations to accommodate the treats.  Can't have fat corgis!
