I am planning to try and get Frosty titled in obedience in the next 2 years, but not really sure how to go about getting ready.  We have gone through a couple of basic obedience classes (finishing the current class in a couple weeks).  I have talked to my instructor and he has given me some pointers to help me get Frosty ready for training.  I am just not sure what all I need to do.  I definitely plan to go to as many obedience trials as I can this spring so I can see in person what is involved.  I was just wondering if anyone had any advice or some good reading to help us get ready?  I have read through the AKC descriptions, but it seems really complicated to understand.  Thanks for any help you can offer!

Do you have a dog training club in your area? Have you considered Rally obedience? The training club I use holds Rally classes several times/week and anyone is allowed to come observe.  I've watched a few and have been told it's fun and not terribly hard for a dog to get Rally Novice titled.  I've been taking my two to obedience classes for many weeks and can say that if not for the training club, I'd be bewildered trying to make heads or tails of the performance arena. If you don't have a training club, maybe someone on here who's in your area can direct you to a possible mentor.  Good luck!
That's the problem, there are ZERO clubs in my area.  Everything is 1 & 1/2 or more hours away from me in the bigger cities.  I am hoping it will all make more sense after I go to some obedience events.  I am friends with lots of corgi owners in Iowa, but none of them are very close to me.  Guess that's what I get for living in the boonies of Iowa lol!!
I know what that's like we travel 60 miles one way for our classes:(
