so i have been wanting to take teddy to the groomers now that it is spring and since i have been working a lot, I havnt really had time to brush him out and bathe him yet and he is having dry skin and i seen they have some special shampoo for that plus little add ons that u can have them do. since i work at petco i also get a 20% discount so thats always good and it would be pretty cool to have him at work there with me too:) lol the package i was looking at was $28 with the discount and they:brush him out with 3diffent brushes, bathe him with what ever i would like, clip his nails, clean his ears, brush his teeth, and do a blow out to get all the dead hair out. but i already clean his ears, brush his teeth and trim his nails.

my husband wanted to get him the $57 package which includes a message, moisturizer, fragrance, and a lot of other stuff but i cant think of it lol i wouldnt mind spending the extra money to kinda spoil him but i want to know if it really is a waste of time/money. i mean i have people spend about 300 at the groomers but im not going to go that far.

just knowing that its spring time and he will be starting to shed like crazy just makes me a little worried as i am so busy now adays.

if you would like to share what u experienced, purchased, things like that would be great:) i know that i will get great service as i am best friends with the the groomer i booked through

thanks!

i hope you can one day:) we also live pay check to paycheck so i was surprised when my hubby said i could get him groomed. now i just have to call and make the appointment, unless does anyone know if they take walk ins?
The word is LEATHER !! Sorry, as I could afford it or found one lightly used, I replaced everything to leather.  The last 20 odd years , we have had some of the most shedding pets ever.  Also hard wood floors make running down Fur Bunnies much faster.  OK that said, all mine get washed when needed ( mud, poop/ dead animal sliding).  Our Westie gets groomed.  When he comes home all spiffed up, he walks like he is king of the world.  We brush/comb weekly the 2 Corgi's and Basset, then sweep and vacuum every few days for bunnies.  These 3 seem to shed year round no matter then blow all at once. We always lean over the tub when washing them.  We had a male Keeshond who we showed years ago.  When you took a shower he was in with you before you could get wet, so we always had to put him outside.

I took Baxter to a groomer a couple times, but now I just brush and wash him at home once a week, as he gets pretty flithy at the dog park. Like John said, bath time is a fun bonding time. I really enjoy cleaning his ears, brushing his teeth, and even trimming his fur if his belly fur or his "pants" are getting too long.

The few times we went to a groomer, we'd go to Petco and get the "Furminator package." He always looked really nice and smelled good. I just felt bad leaving him there sitting in a cage to wait to get brushed, washed, etc.

Furminator has since come out with some nice shampoos. I use the Frequent Use Shampoo and their conditioner. That shampoo helps reduce allergens too, which is great because I've got allergies. I'm also a big fan of the conditioner, it really helps get the loose hairs out of the under coat.

o wow i didnt know they made shampoos too. thanks for letting me know:) i also was feeling bad for him just to sit in that cage while i was at work. i didnt know how long it would take so i was wondering about that. i made the appointment for this Saturday at 3:30 as my shift starts at 4 and i work until 8 but my husband said if he got done with before i did he would pick the little guy up. i got the 2nd package and it has a ton of stuff they do but i cant remember off hand lol
My sister-in-law is a groomer, and they do a lot of extra things during grooming that it's well worth the money to do.  For one thing, if you have a dog that tends to eat things they aren't supposed to, the groomer will "express" the dog - google it, I can't think or talk about it without getting a little queasy.  They trim the inner-ear hair, which prevents ear infections.  Trimming my dogs' nails can be a project - Mitz's are super thick, and tend to split when they're cut or filed - Our other dog Joey (cocker spaniel/maltese) has dark nails, and I don't want to risk cutting his piggies.  Plus both of them are terrified by the noise the dremmel I bought for filing nails makes - groomers have better, quieter tools for this.  Lastly, having them blown out makes a huge difference in the shedding - Since spring is here, they're going to be shedding like crazy and having them blown out makes warmer weather much more comfortable.  So I totally recommend it, just shop around so you're not paying too much.
good to know that the blowing of the coat is a good thing and that will help with the shedding. he has a gray coat but still being in the sun after awhile he gets so hot. and i know what "expressing your dog" is lol it is pretty gross but if they can do it more power to them:) i will not ever do it my self. the things i already do for teddy is brush his teeth, brush him, clean ears, and i cut his nails. he just lays on his side and falls asleep half the time lol he dosent mind the pedi paws i bought him. but i didnt know they trim the ear hair, that very nice as his ears can get pretty nasty at times and he lets me do that but trimming the hair will really help

My groomer is also a close friend of mine and she has groomed Corky in the past he is sensitive to certain shampoos and she always uses oatmeal shampoo. She also has blown out his coat and it made a world of difference. I love taking him to the groomers, he despises it tho, he isnt a fan of me brushing him either, he doesnt want to sit still I think he has Corgi tasks on his mind, you all know like shredding, or rolling in something or chewing something of mine or stealing my underwear. Busy busy all the time he has no time for grooming.

well my answer to this question was answered this Friday. if u want the shed relief package then yes! if not then theres really no point. when i took him in they said it would be about $48 since i got "best in class" but since he was wonderful they only charged us $31. he sure did smell great when they were done and his fur was super soft and looked amazing! they got out so much more dead hair than i could have possibly done myself. he has no more dry skin and he was very relaxed when they were rubbing this stuff into his fur(i was working so i couldn't ask) they actualy gave me some of that for free since we are such good friends:) hehe its now been 6days and i have seen very little fur come off of him and he still smells like oatmeal and his fur is still soft. they did a great job!v so i might bring him back in the future but not for awhile. they also complimented me on how wonderful his teeth were. they said he had the best teeth they have ever seen lol so that made my day:) and thats what i get for brushing his teeth every day
