Hi everyone! I love this forum...it's my main source of corgi information!

Here's my problem...my baby Sasha has started losing her nails. It's not the whole nail that comes off. It's like the outer layer of the nail peels and falls off. We have been taking her to the vet and ruled out nail fungus. She is currently on tetracycline/niacinamide and omega 3 fatty acid supplements. I don't think its really working. Pretty much all her nails have fallen off except for 3 or 4. The vet says that she could have a rare autoimmune disease called pemphigus/symmetrical lupoid onychodystrophy. I've googled that and it seems more prevalent in greyhounds and labradors. Has anyone heard of this in corgis? Anyone has any experience in this?

Thanks a bunch!

I hope your baby is doing better by now........you can follow up on OUR current experience at health discussions on pemphigus. Joey and I are in a serious fight right now with (suspected) pemphigus. We, too, have begun the tetracycline/niacinimide (although Walgreens can't seem to find the niacinimide) as well as my other vet wanting to start Joey on COLOSTRUM..........this is progressing so fast that I'm afraid Joey may lose his eyes and vision. If you have found anything new I'd appreciate hearing from you. Blessings to Sasha!
