I know this has been hashed over before, but,I couldnt remember if I had seen this brand mentioned previously-its called ORIJEN. I just found it and its a high protein kibble-70% protein,30% fruits vegetables botanicals, and 0% grain. The brosure about it seems quite impressive and its made in Canada. Has anyone used this food?>Bethany

Timmy has had Orijen, both the regular and the fish based one. Only reason we don't feed it regularly is because it's not available in the area and mail order gets way too expensive. Other good no grain foods are: Wellness Core; Solid Gold, Barking at the Moon; Nature's Variety, Instinct; HALO, Spot's Stew; and Merck makes one now (can't think of the name); Timberwolf Organics, and I'm sure many, many more. Lot less poop is a wonderful by-product of no grain foods, too.

Timmy enjoyed the Orijen. I rotate his foods about every couple of months, so we've tried about all of the no-grain ones.
The Merrick one with no grain is called Before Grain. And I have heard only great things about Orijen.
Thanks for feedback! I appreciate you mentioning the other brands, too.Among those you listed ,I remember seeing Spots Stew, yesterday, and wondering about that one.I bought a sample bag of the Orijen fish and Kitty loves it,so, am blending it in,slowly over time, with her puppy food, planning to get her off of the puppy kibble.
yes i use orijen puppy, i love it her poo stinks less, she eats less and she loves it.
Mochi loves Orijen Fresh Fish! Her coat seriously has never looked better or felt so soft! It's the only kibble that she seems to love. I think its becuase she likes the fish flavor, but it does give them fishy breath afterwards.. LOL

Also another No grain food that's high on the list is EVO, that's also a very good brand but i like orijen better because mochi likes it better.. its more $$ though
What is it about fish flavor? Kitty loves the salmon oil I put on her food,so,I guess its a win win situation using this oil on the Orijen fresh fish food.I saw Evo and wondered about it.Thanks to all for the feedback!
I have this theory.. LOL my BF always laughs at me. Since they are Welsh Corgis, they hail from Wales, which is somewhat an island surrounded by sea. Where fish is readily available (Ok don't like kill me if they don't eat fish all the time in Wales but thats just my idea, i've never been). ha ha So my theory, is that their ancestors were probably on some kinda of fish diet. That's why she loves the fish flavors so much.
Mochi's crazy for canned tuna, that's the highest value treat you can give her. She would do back flips for it if she could.
Orijen is a good one. We had our pups on Evo but they seemed to lose interest and just pick at it (WHAT?? Corgis not eating? Scandalous...) so I ran some taste-tests on them and now we feed Taste of the Wild, which they adore. Yay for good foods! =)
We used to feed that to Loki, but we found that as he grew it really started to irritate his tummy, the protein was just too high for him to handle. We now feed him Instinct and he's doing well on it.
Personally our dogs have not had it, but I've heard lots and lots of positive reviews about it on this site. If you feel good about feeding it and your corgis likes it, go for it!
I've never heard of it but it sounds interesting. My dogs love salmon and I noticed someone else uses Taste of the wild which I occasionally get for my dogs also.
I have been giving this puppy food to my 3 1/2 month old Henry. I am slowly switching him to this brand from Iams. Henry loves it. It was recommended to me from the natural pet food store in town. They said it was the best food that you can give your dog or puppy. They really highly recommend no grain food. I did not realize that any food for dogs or puppies that has grain in it can cause skin problems which in turn can cause biting and itchiness. I have also switched my cat over to their cat food and he loves it too.
