I had one pup last year that at 12 weeks I wasn't sure about her one ear and so even though she had the best personality...I sold for a reduced price(the people knew all along that I wouldn't guarantee the ear!) Her ear is up and fine...some are a little slower! That's too bad that there's breeders out there that didn't say something! Didn't you get pics of the parents if you couldn't personally meet them? That's my favorite part when people come to see the pups...their puppy parents greet the perspective new owners before I do and then they get to meet the dogs...by then the my pups have learned to run down the hallway and so that is how the people see these pups...it's like a corgi stampede! I personally love it and so do the people who came to meet the pups!

I have heard that sometimes when puppies play and bite one another, that they can injure the ear of another pup(they do get rough with one another in play biting) This can cause the ear to be weak and may take longer to stay up, or in some cases may flop forever.

My Tanner has floppy ears. He just turned three yesterday and I got him when he was 2.5. When I first got him he never lifted his ears. Now he's starting to do it more and more. Can corgis develop ear strength that late? I don't care about his ears, personally it gives him an adorable, "who me?" look. But even right now, playing with a tennis ball, he has them up when he never did before.

I have had people tell me that the a floppy ear stood suddenly after months or even years so I'd say it is possible but probably not very common.

The last time Eddy's ear was flopped down, he was around 5-6 months. We did not worry about it, just massaged it twice a day, it would still be floppy. When he began teething it popped right up. Sometimes it would flop down, like after a nap or bath, for a month or so.

I think it will be fine. If you had your heart set, it's for a reason. I just went through this with mine. Both ears were bent back if you can imagine then the one perked up and just the one was bent. The vet said it should fix itself but if I really wanted it to stand up to tape it. I thought it gave him character and one day they were both perky! He was teething at the time so maybe that does have something to do with it.

Just tape 'em! If they're in puppyhood, that is. An adult whose ears are down has cartilage that's hardened down, so it would be very difficult if not impossible to get them to stand. But puppies, goodness, it's totally normal to have to tape them once or twice.

I had one Corgi that I had to tape his ears and it hurt me more than him. I felt like it was torture and vowed not to do it again. It was hard to get the tape off and we had to use acetone to remove it. That was over 30 yrs. ago and I am sure they have better tape and taping methods now. But his ears eventually stayed up. Next we had a Corgi whose ears were consistently up for 2 years. Then one morning we woke up and he had one ear up and one ear down. We called him our half a beagle half a corgi. The breeder said that his puppy fighting with his sister might have damaged the cartilage. We loved him just the same. Then a few months later, or maybe even a year, it went up and stayed up. Go figure. Meantime, Sherlock is a cutie-pie.

Yes, I have even heard from a friend that a tick bit the ear and the ear went down for quite some time. Eventually after a time it came back up.

Yea they have vet tape now. We used it for Roxi's feet when she wouldn't stop using her back legs to scratch at her stitches.

I hope you find a good solution to this :) all in all - a puppy is a puppy hehe. I find it cute when I see some corgs with permanent ear flops. That's just something on the outside though.. I'm sure his personality would more then make up for one little ear umph. :)

there are so many things that you can do to help their ears come up; he's only 11 weeks, so you do have time, and yes, they don't seem to stay up as well while teething. my pup's came up, and days later were bent a bit, and eventually are straight up. if you have your heart set on this pup, and you feel he's the right pup for you; there's no way i'd trade that.
