I've heard different arguments about the necessity of Bordatella protection. Isn't it only required for boarding/kennels and puppy classes? Other than that, isn't it unnecessary? My sister's vet said many dogs get kennel cough even if they're vaccinated. It's only $11 through my vet, I'm just curious as to what you all think.

I got it because we go to the dog park.
If you use any area frequented by other dogs it is a good idea. It is supposed to be pretty effective.
I don't get this for mine unless they are in a kennel/doggy daycare situation.
All boarding and daycare situations require it, and if you plan to do classes or just be around a lot of unfamiliar dogs. Dax got his, they just kind of gave it to him with all his other puppy boosters. I'm sure like all vaccinations, there's certain strains of it that they're probably not protected against, but I think for $11 it's a pretty good idea to go ahead and do it.
It's not one of those "required" vaccines unless you are taking your dog to kennel. It may be a good idea to get it if you take your dog to dog parks, but if your dog only stays at home, and has no contact with stranger dogs, you really don't need it. Most of kennels require you to have your dog vaccinated for Bordetella in advance (my kennel requires 11 days after the vaccination), so it may be a good idea to have it just in case you need to board your dog for emergency.
Thanks for the comments. I'm going to just go ahead with it. My main problem with it is, it'll be another booster shot to get every year...
