Hi,
I am not sure whether this is a health issue and don't know where to post.

I have a 14 week old Cardi (blue merle). I have had her for little over 4 weeks. When I picked her up, she was a typical blue merle pup along with all of her siblings. I noticed that black color is getting darker. But the strange thing is that she started to have red/sable hue on the head and hind legs. Sable hue on the hind legs are very obvious. (it's not a spot). I can only see this on her head under the sun light. Is it possible to undergo color change? No matter what, our family loves her. She is so fun and precious. I am curious to know whether this is seasonal thing or her color is really changing. I am new to Cardi breed and if this is a silly question, sorry about that.
Thanks.

It is normal for the colors to darken as they grow. It sounds like what you are seeing are her tan points. Finnigan has brindle points that darkened as he matured. His blue darkened as well so don't be surprised if that happens too. Definitely not cause for concern. :)
Thanks for the quick reply. I was concerned whether this may be a dietary issue or something. It appears now that she is covered with a dust because of this red tone. But I guess no worries.
Puppies can change color considerably and as the adult coat comes in more changes may happen. She's very cute!
Bear started out really black, especially on his face - and then ended up being very red headed.

Many pups also have a type of camoflauge (sp) coat that they lose after they get older. My red/whites have a darker reddish brown mixed in when they are young just as many wild animals do to blend in better.
