My Lizzie knew the basic sit, down, come, stay commands, and a few tricks. She had her spay surgery a couple of weeks ago. She recovered well from the spay surgery. I recently was trying to resume her training. The problem is that she now refuses the training by walking away and looks stressed when I give a command. Food won't motivate her as before the surgery. Anyone could tell me why and how to fix this?

My only thought is to start with little pieces of "really tasty treats" just before she should eat...maybe just 3 commands to start with 3 small treats and then feed her. You could easily incorporate this into her feeding routine such as the "sit" "down" "stay" with the treats after each one and then the bonus is her food!

Good luck!
Tasty treats was always my best tool to train Lizzie. I have baked beef liver and cheese. I was puzzled why things changed after the spay surgery.
Sometimes they decide that they have already done it so why do it again, I think. It may have nothing to do with the spay. Just start from the beginning to see what motivates her and try again. Maybe a new squeaky toy she has never seen before would be better.
