On a whim, I decided to check out the Pems that were entered at the Westminster show just a few days ago, and imagine my suprise when I saw that my own corgi's sire (Ch. Merit's Heartfelt Thanks) was there and won best of opposite sex!  I was so surprised and excited that I just had to share!

Does anyone else have a corgi sired/out of a dog that showed at Westminster this year?  (It'd be super if I could locate any of my dog's siblings :)

My Izzy's daddy is from the Honeyfox kennel but I don't know if the ones at Westminster are related. It is fun to watch the groups on line.
Don't talk about it in front of Brian; it might go to his head.
no kidding.....and add to that that Harvard called us to take Brian this afternoon too! (for the Canine Cognition lab)
Oooooh, well. We'll never hear the end of THIS. I'd though *I* was the consummate dog braggart, but I bow to an artist. :-)
I'm gonna donate my body to Harvard Medical School; Dad always hoped I'd go to Harvard, and this is the only way I could get in.

A local obedience school is called Canine College. "...because a dog's mind is a terrible thing to waste."
Sparty has relatives named Stubs and Shorty and he is the smartest dog I ever have seen so I am interested by not terribly impressed by Izzy's maybe relatives! John, you can visit Harvard anytime. It is a pretty campus but you do not have to donate your bod to go there. LOL
haha...well, the harvard thing is more of a study....i signed up Brian a year ago to participate (I guess they just do some basic tests to find out about cognition), but they just got back to me yesterday. But don't worry, Brian can't go b/c of my very busy schedule as a student this semester! maybe if i can clear a day we can go and add Harvard as a bragging right :)
Linus' birth kennel, Heronsway, was represented by Anne Bowes! It was a joy to watch her in the ring!
I saw that the sire of of the BOS was a Sua Mah Corgi. I have had two wonderful (and gorgeous!) Sua Mah Corgis from Judy (Zimmerman) Hart. See Corgis Remembered. Judy Hart and Tim Mathiesen's hard work has surely paid off with these outstanding 2010 Pembroke Corgis.
The BOB winner in the Aussies is from the same lines as Brando's sire. Hopefully Brando will be as great in the ring as his relatives. Pretty exciting!
Mine had some relatives do well at the National Dog Show televised on Thanksgiving, but nothing at Westminster.
I believe that Anne Bowes is one of the grand dames of Corgi breeders. I remember reading articles and seeing her champion Corgis 30-40 years ago!
I shall always cherish my friendship with Anne Bowes. Owning a Heronsway is like having a heartbreakingly beautiful part of her. This lady has spent 40 years in love with the breed. I drove to Massachusetts to meet her; talk about obtaining one of her corgis, did kennel chores, cooked breakfast together, drove back again.......Anne is conscientious and one of the most generous breeders ever. We still keep in close contact and Anne genuinely delights in her many friendships.
