Diarrhea
I know this has been brought up before but a lot of the questions seemed to be for more severe issues, so I figured I'd ask.
Marcus had his yearly checkup on Monday. He had the Lepto vaccination and the Lyme vaccination because both are extremely prevalent in this area, and he got the Boardatella vaccine because we take him to places that require it. He had bloodwork done for his Neuter surgery, and all of that was normal. I don't have reason to believe there's anything too wrong with him, unless that's changed in 3 days.
He's had diarrhea all day. I didn't necessarily realize I should stop feeding him, so he has still eaten today. The first time was in the house because he couldn't wait to get outside. Since then he's gone pretty much every other hour, but he's made it outside. He is still drinking and isn't showing signs of dehydration. He's been a bit lethargic, but not terribly so.
I am not sure whether I should just leave well enough alone and let him just hopefully "poop it out" or if I should trying and give him some kaopectate, and stop feeding him? At what point do I contact the vet? I'm trying to avoid falling into the "this is my first dog, call the vet everyday" syndrome.

Feed him some boiled chicken (or cottage cheese) and white rice. If he isn't showing signs of improvement by tomorrow afternoon it may be worth dropping off a fecal sample at the vet. Since he was just seen they should be completely willing to run the sample without an exam. Remember too that after a bout of diarrhea he may not go for a day or two. This is normal. But if he is going non-stop every hour until tomorrow afternoon I'd call the vet because he won't be able to drink enough to keep himself hydrated and he may need some fluids to help him along. Sometimes they eat something that just doesn't sit right and sometimes the stress of the vet and vaccines, etc can cause diarrhea. With both of these cases you should see some improvement in 24 hours.

The vaccines may have upset his system. Boiled meat and white rice is a good idea but if it continues more than a couple days I would call the vet. Poor guy!

Yep, I'd stick with the boiled chicken and rice for a while. I've also given my dogs vanilla ensure.

Just to clarify: Does he have (gonna be gross) soft, more frequent stools? Or does he have liquid diarrhea?
The former can be managed conservatively, as has been discussed above. The liquid variety can make an animal dehydrated in a hurry and if it does not firm up within 24 hours I'd call the vet. It probably is just a reaction to the vaccine or something he ate if he's just having soft stools, but may be something else if he has liquid ones.

His diarrhea is mostly the consistency of a thin milkshake. There were some solids this morning... but it was mostly undigested food :-(
I left a message with the vet, waiting for them to call me back. He also has scabs on his head and back (small, like the size of a tick) that weren't there when I checked him for ticks on Tuesday.I haven't seen him scratching much, but then again he tends to like hiding his ailments from us.

The last time Noodles had this problem, we switched him right away to white rice and some egg or white rice and boiled chicken. He was kept on that diet for a week. Since he seems to have issues like this on a fairly regular basis, I no longer get concerned right away. I will say he did have to go to the ER vet after a throwing up/diarrhea bought that lasted for 2 days because he was refusing to drink water. The poor guy got hooked up to IV's and it broke my heart seeing him like that. Now as long as he is drinking water (he drinks like a fish!), I just go easy on the food and it seems to work just fine. The important part is feeding several small, bland meals through out the day and I always mix the rice/egg or rice/chicken with water to make sure he is getting enough water. I hope Marcus feels better soon.

I ended up taking Marcus to the vet because he was getting worse, not better. They didn't find any bad bacteria in his stool - but they didn't find any GOOD bacteria either, so he was given a pro-biotic, and anti-diarrhea medicine and instructions to continue his bland diet.
Hopefully, everything will get better with him soon! Thanks for all the help, guys!
