fantasy dog: corgi/border collie mix; "border corgi"?

I saw a beautiful dog today, close to my "fantasy dog" in physique, color, temperament.  It was a tricolored shelty/border collie mix.  Coat pattern was almost exactly like our Al, size a bit smaller than your typical border collie, fur intermediate (not wavy or scraggly the way some collies get, but a bit longer than our Pems), very plush but not tangled;  snout more like a Shelty, finer and narrower than a Pem.  A gorgeous animal, very friendly and well-behaved.
It was very much like Al or Gwynnie, but sort of "stretched" in every dimension.
There is this voice that keeps whispering in my ear -- I can't tell if it's evil or inspired, devil or angel -- suggesting that Al & Gwynnie would be really cool with slightly bigger bodies, slightly longer legs, and tails.  that's basically what this dog was.  Usually, my virtue reasserts itself, just in time:  for a city dweller and sometime backpacker/hiker/mountain climber, the small size of the Pembroke has many of the same advantages as it does for the poor Welsh farmer (you don't have to carry/pay for as much food).  Shorter dogs are less intimidating to small children.  Short legs may be a advantage on very steep terrain (the Pembroke Welsh Marmot).
But the idea is there.
Does anybody know a Permbroke/border collie mix ("Border Corgi")?
I'm thinking, "Pembroke personality, slightly larger physique".
Am I thinking, "Cardigan"?
I know there's at least one Border Cardi on this site.  Any Border Pems?

Here's another interesting mix, Pemset Hound a.k.a. Basset Welsh Corgi:

That's a cute dog, but it's not a Basset/Pem. The ears are totally wrong and the legs are way too long. Maybe a foxhound-pem, IF the foxhound had short light ears.

Rescue/shelter breed IDs are notoriously bad; they tend to look at color alone (every black dog is a Lab mix; every brindle is a Pit mix), they don't know how colors mix, and they'll often ID dogs as breeds that are rare or unusual. For example, at one point a rescue had a dog IDed as a Sussex Spaniel mix; that is impossible because there are so few Sussex in the US that the breed club knows where literally every single one of them is. There are definitely no Sussex running around breeding with things and then having litters turned in to shelters. But it was a short brownish spaniel-y thing and how could it possibly be a boring Cocker mix when they could call it a Sussex mix instead.
So true, I have a friend who rescued a black "lab" years ago. People always commented on how soft her fur was compared to most labs. For my friend's b-day her husband sent for a dna test. Turns out the "lab" is actually mostly husky and golden.
On the other end of the spectrum, I was just reading a book by a behaviorist (can't remember which one) who had a client come in with her rescued "terrier mix."

Turns out it was a rare PGBV. The client did not believe the trainer til lots of pictures were produced.

The people at the rescues are simply pet-loving volunteers, and they know as much as (and sometimes less than) the average pet-owner on the street.
a pbgv? petit basset griffon vandeen
Yep. I went looking at my books and Patrician McConnell tells the story in "The Other End of the Leash."
There are Borgi's advertised in the local nickel ad paper here in Eastern Oregon last week.
"Vallhunds are like Pems on speed, so if you like the Pem personality turned up to 11 and a longer leg and rounder body, look at them."

This is the best quote, Ever!

LOL!
I have a PWC and she's stubborn opinionated and tries to rule the house.... Who am I kidding... She does rule it. She's a bit small if you read our profile you know she's a tiny tinker. I personally think she's already turned up to 11 on the richter scale. I think because she was smaller she had to assert herself more as a pup. She's a one dog house owner right now and we live in a condo on south Florida. She's a thinker and I can see the wheels turning sometimes. She's got attitude and I shoulda named her Diva.
