I'm starting this discussion to make others aware of a disease in dogs called Hemorrhagic Gastro Enteritis.  Buddy was diagnosed with it this week and we nearly lost him.  It starts with vomiting and bloody diarrhea. The animal becomes dehydrated and will go in to shock and die if not treated immediately. Buddy spent two days in the hospital on IV fluid therapy. We are happy to report that we were able to get him treated timely and that he is home now and responding tremendously. Having had many other dogs in my lifetime, I couldn't believe I'd never heard of this disease. The Daily Corgi is going to post a story about it soon to help others learn from our experience.

Thanks for the heads up. Never heard of it.
Yes this disease is actually quite common among dogs. It often presents the same as parvo and can be hard to get a definitive diagnosis. It is also often hard to pinpoint the cause so can be pretty frustrating for owners. I'm glad to hear you brought Buddy to the vet right away and were able to treat him.
I haven't heard of it either. Glad all turned out well . Thanks for the info!
Thanks for the info and I am so glad Buddy is OK!
