Is excessive growling during play in my 9 week old male PWC something to worry about?
Orion so far has been a great pup, sleeps through the night, potty training is going well and he's catching on to what sit and come mean. My only issue is that during play with his toys he gets super growly especially if playing tug-of-war with me or his 6 month old australian shepherd friend, Finn. We haven't had too many biting problems and when he's getting overly nippy with Finn we correct him on it, the only thing is that he growls like a monster when he's got toys in his mouth. It looks like typical puppy play and you can touch his body or the toy and he doesn't bite you or growl actually AT you but he sounds like an absolute maniac. He also does the growly thing when hopping around trying to get your to play, rather than barking, even without a toy. He really doesn't bark much yet, just the snarly noises. Is this something I should worry about or do some puppies just sound like monsters when they play? Will he grow out of it? He doesn't seem to act aggressive, he just sound like it, mainly when he's really excited.

Many corgis are talkers so I would not be too worried. There are different kinds of growls and not all are meant to be threatening.

I've got one that sounds like she's going to kill something and one that won't make a peep unless we're in some SERIOUS tug of war. Some dogs are just really vocal.

Our pup Merlin is a real growler also.when he was 3 months old and still tiny,we couldn't believe the
tasmanian devil noises that came out of him!!our girl Keri doesn't make alot of noises except girly noises with my Hubby,but the faces she makes look like pics of wolves when they're feeding!!especially with a chewy or toy in her mouth.great characters and you're right!!very different personalities.

Yay, this is very reassuring. He's a sweet pup, he just sounds like an absolute psycho. Good to know he can sound like a monster and not actually be one :D

Tag and Razz sound like they're out for blood when they are playing tug or babies. I just think it's an individual thing from corgi to corgi.

Some dogs just growl when they play more than others. My oldest Aussie is very much this way, my younger one is not as much. My older one is 2 years old and still gets very vocal if we are playing a really intense game, and he is also the least aggressive dog I know. Certainly nothing to worry about.

My girl will growl for almost any reason at all. You pet her she growls. Scratch her ears, she growls. Rub her belly.... Give someone a hug. Vaccum. Move your feet. And heaven forbid you move a blanket she is laying on, you would think the world was coming to an end. Most crazy vocal dog I have ever been around.
