Kit running hot and is disinterested in his kibble
I'm sure I'm just over reacting and it's nothing but here's what I've noticed in the past couple of days.
Kit is no longer interested in sleeping on his bed or lounging on it. He sometimes takes a treat or toy onto it, but he's usually lounging or sleeping on the tiled kitchen floor. And most recently he's been sleeping by the front door, it has the coldest floors in the house due to the spacing between the front door and ground. He finished shedding (for the most part) recently. So could the mid 60s to low 70s house temp be too warm for him?
Another thing that started most recently was that he no longer dives for his food. A lil history. He's been on Iam's puppy formula before I got him at 4 months old. I switched him between some kibble foods and he started to have the runs (about a week after I got him). I then went to raw (Stella and Chewy Chicken) food which didn't really fix his stool problem (would sometimes get so bad he would make a mess in his crate). I then took him to the vet, got some powder to mix into his food, that didn't work. So he prescribed some pills (don't have it in front of me) and had me buy the Hill's Scientific Formula W/D (yep, i know it's bad, keep reading faithful...umm.. reader) so after browsing on here for a bit, i discovered how horrible the scientific formula is. After his stool hardened and there was no more messes in his crate or uncontrollable indoor messes, i stopped the pills and started to mix Hill's and Fromm and then later got Blue Buffalo puppy formula (since i couldn't make it out in time to the specialty store where i got Fromm).
At this point he was still chomping away at his food the second it came down, and by the time i finished putting everything away he'd be done with his meal. Then after he's been on the Hill's/Blue Buffalo mix for a week or two, he started to lose interest in his food and wouldn't touch it after I placed it down. He'd come back to it throughout the day and nibble at it, usually finishing 80-90% of his normal intake. I went back to a specialty dog boutique that sold the raw and Fromm food and has many other great products. I picked up the top of the shelf dog food they have their being Orijen and started to mix it with Hill's and Buffalo...still didn't really care for his food....then took out Hill's completely and now its a Blue Buffalo and Orijen mix... still... doesn't care about his food as much as he used to. Nothings really changed in regards to his behavior, he's still running around outside and being playful, but he's losing interest in his food. I'm feeding him twice a day, morning and dinner. He basically doesn't touch his morning food anymore, and then gets crated. When my friend comes in to take him out, I believe he eats up half of it, then when I come home and take him out, he comes back and eats the other half and then I fill the bowl back up with his dinner which he might have a few bites of and then progressively nibbles at it throughout the night leaving the bowl 10% full or empty by bed time. Sorry for the long long ramble, but just thought every detail matters.
Is he just getting bored with his kibble? Should I start mixing in some canned food with the kibble? What if he treats the kibble and canned food the same as just the kibble?
Your help is greatly appreciated, I'm worried about the lil guy.

I'd like to get him back on the raw food (would love for a company like Darwin's so I don't have to drive 30 minutes to the specialty boutique to buy the raw food each time) but since he had stomach problems before, I'm going to wait till he's a bit older to switch him to it and see how he reacts. He was born on May 12th, so he's a little over 6 months

That is great! I actually was just on the Darwin's website, but sadly, I'm in the most expensive shipping category and just can't afford to pay that much! Raw food is hard to find in my area as it hasn't really caught on here yet. There are two stores that sell a brand of raw, but it is not the brand I would choose. I drive about 90 miles to get another brand, but even then, it's so expensive (at least $5/lb for the "cheap" stuff) that I can only afford to feed it 1-2 days a week. My best bet would be to feed a homemade diet (I have a holistic dog care book with a great feeding plan/recipes developed by a holistic vet), but I just can't quite get over the idea of grinding up hearts and livers in my kitchen... ick! And where the heck are you supposed to find bone meal anyway?!

My Bindi went through a couple of stages of mot eating much... once she was a tad constipated, and just wasn't hungry (a fingertip of cat hairball remedy fixed that right away). The other time she was just being a puppy and flexing her defiance muscles. :) Sky and Lyla is on the right track, I started feeding Bindi, I'd give her 15 minutes to eat, and then I'd take her food up and she'd have to wait until dinner. After about a week of the routine, I haven't had any problems.
As for food - I'm not a pro on nutrition, just my own dog. She always had trouble with "the runs", on Science Diet, Nutro, NutroMAX, until we switched to EVO. It's not cheap - but I haven't cleaned a messy corgi fluffy butt in months.

Ya, looks like I'll go back to lifting the food up after 10-15 minutes... and just have to get used to be called a monster by my mother each time I do it... Can't wait till the house sells and I can move out so I don't have to hear how much a bad parent I am to my lil guy and keep an eye on her not to give any table scraps to Kit.
Maybe he is flexing his defiance muscles at me right now... little bugger. I'll take all your guy's advice and work on the little hell raiser. And I'm trying to be careful with his stomach, cleaned a lot of fluffy corgi butt in the first couple of weeks, been happy not doing it for a month now.

Two cups is a LOT of food for a Corgi, so he might not be hungry. Cut him back to 1.25 to 1.5 cups per day, over two rations, and his appetite might improve. How hungry are you for supper after you've had Thanksgiving dinner? LOL, probably not at all but it doesn't mean you're ill, just full.
I also would only ever feed twice a day, as they enjoy their mealtime so much.
I'll leave the discussion of food choices to others, as I'm one of those people who feeds Iam's and thinks it's fine, my dogs are healthy and happy and their coats glisten, never sick, muscular and active etc etc.

Young dogs have growth spurts and it affects their appetites. It really is better to feed at least twice a day but just put the food down and wait 15 minutes and remove whatever is left. If you worry too much about his intake when there is no evidence that he is not getting enough nutrition you greatly increase the chance that you will have a fussy eater or worse, a food possessive dog. They are not unlike children in that you provide good food choices and they decide how much they want. Save your worry for when he is an elderly dog and you really do have to worry about whether or not he is eating.

When we first got Nibbler, she would barely eat and she was already the runt and a little thin to begin with. I mixed her food with hot water and let it sit for 5 minutes to cool before giving it to her. Did the trick. I also used this trick just this weekend for a friend's dog who stayed with us while her family traveled. I think it brings out the smell of the food. Anyway, with Nibbler I did this for the first week and slowly started adding less water until she was just eating dry food.

Well, I may not be much help but is he holding his weight? That would be something to watch. My corgi isn't a big eater and will eat some of his food and finish the rest later but waits a while after I have put it down before he goes and eats some. His stools are fine and he is full of energy. He is a year old, now, and weighs 23 lbs. I hope your guy does ok. You have been through a lot with him. Good luck. I will try to check back. p.s. Mine eats about a cup and 1/2 a day.Also, I feed Purina dog chow and he has seemed to do great on it. My vet says she likes Purina because they do a lot of research on their products.

We feed twice a day- once in morning, once at night. Potus was always ravenous as a pup but has become more disinterested as he got older. His breakfast is most often ignored because it typically is just kibble. He will eat some and then usually eats the rest at about 4 or 5pm (we leave his bowl down which some people say not to, but it works for us). His dinner usually gets more attention because it comes with either a topping of shredded roast chicken or sliced dog meat (from the dog food rolls you can usually buy in the fresh meat section of a supermarket). He is most likely to lick the bowl clean after this meal. Perhaps you can try adding some fresh meat to his dinner, to get him excited and motivate him to eat more.
As for sleeping on the floor- Po will do this when it gets warmer. His favourite place to sleep is in the arm chair but when it warms up he won't get on the chair, prefering to sleep on the ground. This is typically around the high 20's. low 30's (in Celcius, I don't know what it is in Farenheit)

Sidney is like Potus, it sounds like. He gets kibble only (1/2 cup or less) in the morning and is not very interested in it at all. He'll nibble if he feels like it. At night he gets something added to his kibble (again, no more than 1/2 cup), maybe some canned food or shredded chicken. He'll be more interested and tend to clean his plate. We buy a can of good quality dog food and only give him a couple spoonfuls with dinner, so a can will last a week or so.

I added water to his kibble last night and he scarfed it down (perhaps cause he only at like 5% of the food in the morning). Added water again this morning and he ate about half... so we're getting there. He's almost 7 months now and getting about a cup and a half for breakfast and dinner. I'll pick up some canned food to mix in a spoon full or two and see how that goes. Thanks again for all the recommendations. Hopefully be able to move to raw food at some point... his poops are rather stinky (i can smell them from the ground...outside) and a bit random in consistency (really dreading seeing any soft stool due to his diarrhea problems before) Vet wasn't able to pinpoint what was causing the diarrhea so I feel like I'm playing Russian Roulette when I change up food on him.
Funny thing happened last night. Kit woke me up 4am by whining. I decided to just bring him up on the bed (even though he's been jumping off to sleep on the ground recently (too warm maybe?))... and guess he wanted to play... cause he tried eating my fingers and started to jump back and forth between me (and treading on sensitive territories) and then... started to try and get into position to hump my arm. Once I finally caught him completely in position and arching his back to start humping I gave one loud "AH!" and he settled the heck down and became a sweetheart and just laid there looking at me, I then fell back asleep petting him... ahhhh the wonders of parent hood. He's getting his undescended (read $$$) puppy bits snipped on the 18th... so hopefully this will settle down his hump frenzies.

Is that a cup and a half at each meal for a total of 3 a day? If so, that could be why he's not hungry. That is A LOT of food! at 7 months I think Lyla was getting about 2/3 a cup twice a day for a total of 1 and 1/3 cup total each day, less if I added treats, meat, etc. Of course, feeding depends on the food, but if you're feeding Orijen, he shouldn't need a huge amount, it is highly concentrated food.
