Hi there and congrats on the soon to be addition!

Most of what you have listed is pretty good stuff. If you are looking to narrow down the contenders you might try looking at which ones are "Cruelty Free" - that is they don't use in-lab testing on animals to determine if the food is good or not, so no caged puppies are subjected to testing in the name of feeding you pooch. It's one of my main specs that I look for.

And just so you know, Cruelty Free doesn't mean they don't test the food. In most cases they test by doing in-home studies on real pets on the food.

To that point, I use Fromm fairly regularly and both my pups LOVE their pork and applesauce mix... but I'm unfamiliar with any of the other brands you've listed.

I think any of those foods would be fine. I've used the fromms and been very happy with it, and my cat eats merrick. I'd wait until you've had your pup for a few weeks before changing his food though, just to avoid an upset tummy.

I agree with Jane. Also you will want to start out very slow with less than 1/4 of the new mixed in. Each week increase it so after about 3-4 weeks  he  will be transitioned. I'm not familiar with these brands but am sure they are good ones. There are several dog food discussions on my corgi and you can also check out Dog Food Analysis. If you feed the puppy food you will also need to feed large breed food:) Good luck and congrats!

@Jessica Excellent point! I hadn't thought of looking into this, but now I will. I'll have to see if my local pet store has different flavors of Fromm or if I can order it online. Thanks!

@ Hannah and McKenzie I've heard mixed things about it, but I might consider giving it a try since it is widely available. Any in particular you'd recommend?

@Jane I'll definitely wait a few weeks like you said. That is the last thing I want to do, he'll already be so stressed. Thanks!

I'm not super familiar with most of the brands you listed. We feed our 7 month old Blue Buffalo (chicken) after an upset stomach incident with Wellness (lamb) a few months back. Our vet did give us a suggestion I'll pass on: chicken/rice formulations are one of the least likely to cause issues. As Purina sorta has chicken in it, a chicken kibble might be best to start out with. 

Kaylee definitely likes BB Adult Chicken & Brown Rice. We've been giving it to her since she's been 4 months old. She has such a seemingly sensitive stomach that once we found something that worked and she liked we wanted to stick with it for a while and not have to switch to an adult variety. There's a couple of discussions on puppy vs. adult food that you might find helpful.

I'm not really familiar with many of these.  I like Innova though it's a bit spendy for my tastes anymore.  Earthborn Holistic I haven't heard much about but personally I'd avoid any formulas that have tapioca in it because I'd rather my dog ate food with ingredients that had real nutritional value.  I've looked up tapioca and it consists mostly of carbohydrates.  There are omega 3's and 6's, calcium, iron and B9 but not much to really matter since other ingredients and added vitamins would take care of that.  I fed my female Pembroke Flint River Ranch Lamb, Millet and Rice several years ago because it was recommended by a lot of show breeders but she didn't do well on it so I quit.  Their ingredients don't really impress me enough to try again.

I had Shippo on Blue Buffalo for awhile, the Wilderness when he was a puppy and the new Freedom line a few months back but I'm really not happy with them very much anymore.  I have recently transitioned him over to Acana Wild Prairie which he really likes and gives him way less stool than he had on BB.  He pooped 4-5+ times a day on BB and they were very voluminous, with the Acana he poops about 3 times a day (he eats twice a day) and there's significantly less volume.  Comparably I think Acana was cheaper per pound than BB and he is also eating less of it so I'll be sticking with Acana I think.
