This isn't corgi related but I want to see if someone can help.
My neighbor's pit bull mix just had puppies and one of them has been laying in the road by itself all day in the sun. I finally got to him (the mother dog has been snarling at me all day) and brought him inside to cool off and get some water. The problem is that he doesn't seem to be able to walk. I'm not sure about his age but his eyes are open and he can drink from a bowl (he drank a lot!) and lift his head. Maybe 4 weeks? His tummy is really bloated and he seems sick. My neighbors won't be home until late so I'm just going to keep him here until I can talk to them. Is there anything else I can do for him? I know that these puppies will probably never see the inside of a vet clinic so I'm pretty worried about him.

Just a note, I think he should be able to walk but something is wrong with his back legs
Be careful not to expose your dog to anything. Sounds like you are doing all you can if they aren't using a vet unless you report them. I know that is not always a good idea.
The distended stomach could mean worms. New puppies can get them from their mothers, and I doubt if the owners have been paying attention to worming. That's just so SAD to see dogs and puppies not getting the regular vet care they need. Sounds like neglect to me. I hope they appreciate what you've tried to do to alleviate suffering. We commend your efforts!!
Oh how terrible...now I tend to be a little out going and if it was me I would soften a few kibbles of what you have in warm water and make a soupy mush....this poor little pup need something and yes it's not his moms milk but it is nutrition! He should be on some food and if he has worms they are probably taking all of his enegy and nutrition...just a thought but I can't see pups suffer for their owners neglect...would they let you nurse him to health...I know...big undertaking but poor pup...the mother dog is maybe leaving it to die if something is wrong...worms do make sense cuz pup stomachs should not be that cute round belly but just a little plumper than our own dogs...has the pup gone potty!!! Thanks for what you're trying to do!!!!
The mom dog probably knows there is something wrong with it so she is rejecting it. Try laying the mom dog down and let the baby drink. Or you can bottle feed it.. but there is no guarantee it will make it, but you can try!
My neighbor came home and wanted to take him back with her. She said she'll take him to the vet but I know that's crap. He seemed like he was starting to feel better and even wagged his little tail once. It's so so sad though because they have tons of animals and I don't believe any of them have been fixed so they just keep reproducing. What would the humane society do if I called?
I just got off the phone with a person that works for the humane society in MN ...I don't know where you live but he gave some suggestions...but do keep in mind the well being of you and your dogs...if this neighbor is not a descent one...1.
1. He said that up here a call to animal control(police) would be better. The humane society gets there dogs from there they don't pick them up.
2. You could check with a pit bull rescue if ther's any close and you can go to petfinder and get names/#'s of these and how close they would be.
3.You could check with the humane society/shelter in your area to see what they say.
4.He said there is an animal abuse hot line...I think this might be good at least to see what options you have
5.He said it would be good to make a report because then they would have one on record
6.He also said that different cities have diff. ordinances as to how you can treat your animal...not sure who/where you get this...

Good luck...my heart goes out to you and this poor pup! I would be very upset! Some people!

Thank you for trying and remember sometimes that's all we can do but that we tried is important!
It is always heartening to know that there are still neighbours who care.
also check your county ordinances they may be over the limit which you then can call animal control on especially if their animals aren't licensed. In my county in vancouver wa there is a 3 adult dog limit unless your a breeder . I know you prob. don't want to make enemies with your neighbor but it really would be best =)
I would also think if this pup is laying out like it was yesterday that you should call and report this...it's not ok and I would think someone would do something!
I doubt the people would get more than a warning unless the situation is extreme. If you have a good relationship with them you could call around and find an inexpensive place for them to get care. The Humane Society will help there. If you don't, it is a little more complicated. If there are a lot of other neighbors you could try an anonymous note. Reporting without letting them know will be taken badly I am sure. If you decide to report, I really would tell them that you think it is necessary that they get medical care for the puppy. Since you live there it is difficult. I left an anonymous note in a mail box once and found out later the people were furious but they did not know who did it and they did take care of the dog in question so it worked.
Thanks for all of the responses, I really appreciate it. It is definitely a difficult situation and I'm still debating what to do. These dogs are not necessarily being abused, but I think some people just have a very different view on animal care than I do. It's actually my boyfriend's parent's neighbors (I'm living with them during my last semester of college) and they would be furious with me if I caused a rift...I'm going over there to check on the pup later today and then I'll decide what to do..Sigh.
