My corgi's tail is docked so I was just curious what is the difference between the two. We are talking about getting another corgi in the next couple of months. Moose tries chasing his docked tail all the time. Is there any pictures to show the difference between a docked tail or un-docked tail?
Hi Krystal!
I am adding a pic of my puppy with an undocked tail and if you check out my photos and videos you can see more. You can also check out banning of corgi tails(in many countries). This is new to the US and many people prefer to have the tails docked. I have had a very hard time even finding a new pup for myself that doesn't dock!
Wow Corgi's look so different with an undocked tail!! My fiance's dad is a breeder and he docks the tails but they have a waiting list for their puppies so it could be awhile before we could get one off him. EZBrook in PA is a breeder too but they don't dock tails so I was wondering the difference in how they look.
Yeah it is. I was unsure about it because I'm so used to the docked tale. plus I'm afraid our current puppy will chase the new puppy's tail. lol. We didn't even know that their tails were docked at first because we got Moose when he was 6 months old. The lady that had us before him was going to breed him and her husband was all concerned because his ears weren't standing so they gave him back to my fiance's dad and his dad gave him to us.
I am more interested in how does a Pemmie look with a natural bob tail as compare to docked tail. Does anyone has a pic of a natural bob tailed bunny butt?
I think you can tell the difference by - if its natural its a tiny bit longer then a docked tail and has a little fluff at the end.. like a wing hahah.
the docked tails are more short and rounded and the fur is smoothed around it.
Our Chepstow is a natural, his tail is about 2 1/2 inches long. You really only notice the extra length when he is acting alert and puts his tail up. Most docked corgi don't have enough to do that. When he wags his tail it really moves. I will take a picture and send it to you. I think on our page I have a butt picture on our deck looking at the snow. Chepstow is the red/white one. Can't remember what his tail looks like in the picture.
our corgi has a tail, we really dont have any issues of him chasing his tail. However he does look different than other corgis, people often think that it needs to be docked.
I don't know if you have read about the banning of tail docking in many countries or not but if not you may want to check it out. It's very hard for people in this country to get used to! I do not dock and have had a rough time finding breeders that don't dock...but there are some.
