Hmm, I guess another question would be what age do they reach full size by? I know they take longer to fill out and not look so lanky but as far as height and length? My Mom got Quinn when he was 10 months old and his overall size has staid the same but he used to be very thin, all head, no body and now he has filled out. Finnigan has never looked unproportioned like that and he is now a year old so I'm wondering if he will grow more. Their dad is big as are most of his other offspring so I wonder if Finn is still going to grow or if he's just a small guy. Either way is fine by us, the only downside is that because he is extra short, he cannot climb down the stairs so we are still having to carry him down the stairs to go potty. He weighs 38 lbs and Quinn is 45 lbs.

Simon sounds about the same size as Finnigan. Wow, Caleb is quite a bit longer. I wonder how big he'll end up being.

Thanks for measuring your dogs by the way. I know it's a funny request but I think it's interesting. Finn kept biting the measuring tape and wanting to sit down when I I was measuring him. :)

Hmm, that's a good question!

Simon's 12" tall by 21" long (approximate, was licking my face and not helping.)
Caleb's 11" tall by 26" (hahahah, Long Dog Is Long. I hope he grows into himself sooner or later.)

I was told that Simon was a little on the small side and compact for the breed - he's leggy, though! Caleb, er, no clue. Still growing!

However, I can tell you I've seen all ranges of sizes - heck, we ran into one here at a local dog walk that had at least four inches on Simon both ways, and weighed about 40 lbs, wow. He was the same age, too. Simon weighs 29 lbs, but I keep my dogs on the lean side. :)

Finnigan is about 21" long and 11" tall. I'll get back to you on Quinn's size. I'm having my Mom measure him.

Hi Alice,
My two Cardi boys are approx:
Silas 12" tall, 24" long
Barnaby 14" tall, 26" long (he's a big boy) :-)

How big are Finnigan and Quinn?

I have a question for everyone with an adult Cardi. How long and tall would you say your Cardi is? Height from ground to top of shoulder and length from chest to behind. I've seen other Cardis briefly before we got Finnigan but didn't take note of their size so the only two I really know are my Finnigan and my Mom's Quinn who has the same Dad. Quinn is a lot longer and taller than Finnigan and I'm wondering if he is small for the breed or if Quinn is just big.

It's the same way here. You never see Cardigans so people always have a lot of questions when they see Finn and they all love his blue coloring and different colored eyes. He's a big hit at the dog park. :)

Hello fellow "blueys"! Blizzard is our first Cardigan and a blue merle with brindle points! We don't have many Corgis of any flavor near where we live so he creates quite a stir!

I know what you mean. Pomeranians are nice dogs but too hyper for me. I can definitely see the Basset in Finn. Aside from the appearance similarities, he has a great nose and loves to track treats that we hide in the house. As soon as I say "track it" you can hear him sniffing non stop searching for those treats. He'd be a great search and rescue dog if the person had food on them. :)

My father in law has had two Pems and neither one liked other dogs. The first one would tolerate them being around a long as they kept their distance and the one they have now doesn't like other dogs at all. We tried introducing him to Finn when Finn was 9 or 10 weeks old and he kept growling and nipped Finn on the face. Finnigan's the complete opposite. He loves all animals and people. He just can't get enough love!

A ha! The Pomeranian / Basset reference hits home here. (Also explains my brindle's Basset-like smelling expeditions ;) ) My guys are nothing like a hyper Pomeranian lol (nothing against them). Makes me even happier to have Cardis :)
