Those are the biggest differences I noticed as well. The Pems are more hyper and are more likely to be dog agressive (not to say that they all are) and they are smaller usually. Finnigan is on the smaller size for a Cardi so size isn't a big deal to me but I prefer the laid back, I'm happy doing whatever you're doing attitude. Yes, they are more goofy than Pems and I love it. Cardis truly are clowns. Though both breeds are Corgis, the Pembrokes are related to the Spitz Group such as the Pomeranian and Schipperke where the Cardigans are related to scent hounds such as the Basset and Dachshund. Granted that was some time ago and the lines have since been crossed but there is still a noticable difference in personality from what I've seen.

His mom had a tan and white Pem. And he was very cute! They are a little hyper. The cardi's are more laid-back and have that goofy personality. Of course Pem's are a bit smaller but they are very vocal just like the Cardi's.

A question for Alice and Stefanie — I've only had Cardis... (I adore them! I personally think they're so different than other dogs!) How are Pems different?

We almost got a Pem before we got Finn. My husband wanted one because his family had Pems. I liked both breeds but in the end I decided I liked the Cardis more. I'm glad we went with a Cardigan, I think their personalities fit us better.

What makes him want a Pembroke?

Ahhhh. That just breaks my heart. We are thinking about getting another dog, but Matt wants a Pembroke. I'm such a fan a Cardi's .... Maybe I will be able to change his mind.

I agree. Even if I did decide to show my dog, I'd be showing my pet. I coulod never just view a dog as an item. I think some people get too wrapped up in the desire to have a champion.

Finn's breader has two 8 month old Cardis he's trying to place in homes now. He kept them both for show and the female's ears never stood and the male didn't turn out to be perfect show material. It's sad that whether or not they have a perminent home all depends on how "perfect" they end up being. Surely those puppies are attached to him by now. He's willing to place them at little to no cost as long as they go to good homes though so at least he's looking out for them in that aspect. If we had the room for a 2nd dog right now I'd take the little boy in an instant. He's adorable!

I can't believe someone would actually return a dog!!! After 9 months you should have a serious bond with your dog. I don't care if something goes wrong with Niko, I would never return him.
I bought Niko as a show dog... but I always believe your animals should be your pets first and show dogs next.

We never thought Finn's nose would fill in as much as it did. He only has two pink dots, one next to one nostril and one inside the other. I liked his nose when it was spotty though, I just didn't want it to be mostly pink like his brother's is. Not that his brother isn't cute, I just prefer the black with a touch of pink. Sometimes the pink photographs weird.

People have asked my Mom if Quinn is part pig, rabbit and cow. ??? Someone told us Finnigan looks like a harry alligator! :)

Brother Quinn(and Finn):

Finn's nose at 9 weeks:

One of my favorite pics of Finn when his ears were in the wierd in between stage. I think he looked like Yoda:

I can't believe a vet was willing to tattoo his nose to make it black. My Mom's vet said he could put a metal stint in Quinn's one floppy ear to make it stand up. He said he's done it before for people who wanted to show their dog that had a floppy ear. Not only is that illegal in the show ring but aweful that someone would put their dog through that. Of course my Mom said no. She knew Quinn had a floppy ear when she got him. In fact, he was sold as a show dog and was doing great in the ring until one ear fell when he was 9 months old. The person returned him to the breeder who offered him to me as we were waiting for Finn to be born, and when I showed his picture to my Mom she fell in love.

I've had some interesting questions about Dudley's "mix" but never pig! OMG! That's a good one.
You can sort of see in Dudley's baby pic that he had 'racing stripes' on his nose when he was a puppy. I loved them! But they filled in. I wanted them to stay. I thought they were cute. My only concern about the pink is sunburn. I actually put baby sunblock on the bridge of Dudley's nose when we go out. The hair is so thin there and the skin so pink that he has gotten sunburn before.
