For the longest time, Silas' nose was very pink. Think polka dots. (His nose has filled in now). It didn't matter to us in the least. But I remember during one visit with a new vet, the vet said, "oh, I can fill his nose in / tattoo his nose." We were pretty shocked to hear a vet recommend putting our little guy through something painful for aesthetic reasons only. Crazy!

Needless to say, we didn't go back :-)

With his very white and pink coloring (as a pup), we even had someone ask once if he was a pig, or mixed with one (for real) LOL I agree about being "ambassadors for the breed." That's a great way to put it! :D

The standard on Cardigans says that pink on the nose is allowed for the Blue Merles so I'd leave the nose "as is". What fills in will fill in. I get tons of comments on my guy, "what kind of a mix is he? Aussie/Bassett?" Yeah it does get old but I just tell myself "we're ambassadors for the breed" and explain all about the Cardigan Welsh Corgi.

And as for big ears on a puppy, this is my favorite puppy pic of my guy.

I agree, if it is meant to be, it will be. I'll tape ears but that's about all the "assisting" I'll do. I’m glad Finnigan's nose filled in but his Dad and his half brother have very pink noses so we knew there was a good chance his would stay pink too and we'd love him just the same. I've seen a lot of champion blues with pink noses so I don't think it will affect Captain's show career. He seems to be doing very well so far! :)

Captain's nose has not filled in. I gave up on the biotin. His right side is almost filled but his left side still has a lot of pink. The biotin seemed too just make his brindle more prominent. I have decided if it is ment to fill in it will. I have not had a judge so far say anything but you can never tell what is on their minds. In Europe you get written comments so maybe we should fly over for a show. LOL

Congratulations Captain! Did his nose ever darken up for you? I know you were using something to try and darken it a while back.

Captain got his second major over the weekend. He now has 9 points and just needs to chip away for the rest. He turned 10 months on the 21st. We are so happy. He does not like to show in the afternoon and our new trick which I guess is not new is to not feed him the day of the show so he wants the bait more and is more attentive. I think I am going to go to the Eukanuba Cup in Dec since it is an open show this year.

We still get that with Finn. Sometimes people will guess that he's an Aussie Corgi mix but they don't know what Cardigans are. Explaining it does get old pretty fast. :)

Lindy, looking good on the ears. The pups are always so cute with their big ears!

lol i get that a lot. not so much now that she is mostly grown up (and I have another Cardigan as "proof") but when she was a pup I got "what a cute aussie pup" a lot. i think that the blue merle is a color that people associate with aussies automatically...

i mostly try to politely educate them...

okay so tired of people always asking what my little Australian Shepherd is mixed with ?? ARGH !!! then they argue with me when I tell them he is a Corgi !

the cardi blogging world is awful small, so it's not surprising that we all get to know each others dogs...
