Just an offer... if anyone would be able to transport tables from the south side of Janesville I would be able to bring as many as we need for free from our church.
I have no problem paying an admission fee. I actually tried to give you the $5 at the picnic. Maybe you could make it as a recommended donation. That way if people thought it was too much they could skip it or give a smaller amount.
I agree with Patrick- If there is money left over after paying for the tables and chairs it could be added to the CorgiAid donations.

The whole "admission fee" thing has been something I have been struggling with for a long time. When we first started this we used to rent a building (a doggie daycare) and charge for admission to help cover the cost of the rental, but with us being at the dog park and the dog park charging a per dog fee, I felt that it might be asking too much to ask to charge a people admission fee on top of the dog park fee as well and I felt that it would take away from people spending that extra $5 on the Raffle For Rescues. But yes, there is an out of pocket expense that I have to figure out every year, mainly being the table and chair rental.
This year we only had 1 cardigan breeder at the picnic and that was Teresa Kannard. I had a Pem breeder that I asked to come but unfortunately she could not make it this year. Our dog trainers were Tim Kannard and Michelle Bigelow (the Husky Lady). I guess I just assumed if people were in need of a breeder or trainer they would ask (I know I directed a few people to both Tim and Michelle). Maybe a picture bio or a sign at the picnic or something along those lines would work? But if you (or anyone for that matter) have any ideas I would be happy to hear them. I am always open for feedback!! :)
I know that I have already started my list for next year on things I want/need to add (more tables were on the top of the list ugh!). But I always try to ask if anyone has any ideas or suggestions or something they would like to have happen, like to see (like a demonstration or guest speaker) please let me know!!! If you don't want to ask me on the group, please don't hesitate to private message me or e-mail me privately (flicker_lockpicker@hotmail.com SUBJECT LINE: Corgi Picnic).
Charity and I really enjoyed the picnic and look forward to next year--hopefully cooler!
We are thinking about therapy work and will need to do some work to qualify as a Canine Good Citizen. Has anyone earned this certificate and gone on with therapy certification?
Glad you had fun! Sorry you had to leave early. I know I was not expecting the freak heat wave either. The whole purpose of moving the picnic into September (we used to have it in July) was to get away from the heat lol so much for that plan!! I am already thinking about next year's and moving it forward another week or two to HOPEFULLY get away from any chance of freak heat waves--until next year when it happens again LOL!!
Oliver and I had an awesome time at the picnic! There were so many nice people and dogs. Unfortunately, the combination of heat and Oliver's refusal to drink the well water meant we had to leave early. Now that I know my dog is a snob, I'll be better prepared next year. Thanks Andrea, for all of your hard work.
Before I forget, the people that won the "special" corgi baskets............. there is a pin in each basket. pem pin and cardi pin. if you didn't find one go thru all the papers and bubble wrap and what evers again. sorry I didn't think of them yesterday.............. it was fun meeting all and it is so impressive to see that many corgis that don't know each other get along so well.
I have already had an idea run through the brain for next years raffle. I'm not saying a thing. I am on vacation 95% from raffle doings until January. Then, we will let the fun begin..................... Thanks again for the great picnic Andrea.....and I finally made it heheheh
Anyone know the name and hometown of the kids in the picture below? Watertown newspaper would like to know.
