Anyone going to Barktoberfest today in Milwaukee?
Patrick and Tina........... I have already started on plans for next years raffle and we are going to do a kids raffle. This will be just for the kids to buy tickets for. Andrea and I have already talked about it and the tickets will be .50 a ticket, 3 for $1.00. I don't have any idea how many have kids or the ages so any and all input on this will be helpful. I am very open to suggestions for this. If you or anyone has any ideas/suggestions, e-mail me at: firstname.lastname@example.org. put PICNIC in the subjest line.
I have a few new ideas for raffle items. I was going to wait until January, but it looks like I will be starting sooner. Officially though, I'm not pushing anything until the beginning of the new year.
But, all are invited to send me their thoughts. I am probably going to stay with a few of the same, only different. I liked the wine baskets and the kid's school stuff. I know school is already in by the time we have out picnic, but what's a little extra.
I'm going to take my time on this. My very good friend in Oklahoma is already thinking on it and another friend has already starting picking up items. and my other friend said she will be putting some things together during the year.
So, the ball is rolling already. will be watching for everyone's e-mails. I know we have plenty of time, but Ii have started a file just for the 2014 picnic.
Thanks again to everyone that came to the picnic. Looking forward to seeing you in a year and hopefully a few new faces. Take care..............
Weston and I would love to attend the next picnic :)
That is a great idea. This year we found a nephew of my 2 Corgis just because they looked so much alike. However, if there was a sign in like that people could look thru the info and find those connections.
I like the map idea. I have been trying to come up with a way to find out where everyone has come from--thought about doing a sign in sheet/book. I know next year I plan on having a table set up right as you come in that will have some information on it--like about the rescues, who the breeders/trainers are and anything else that might be important to know.
What ever I have to say, is just input. I know the people who work so hard to put the picnic together really deserve a hug and more. I always get a chill when the picnic comes near...I tell everyone I see with a corgi about the gathering, I think 4 of them have showed up and even joined.
I want to help, I'm handy with a saw, but I aint no artist :). I would like to figure out a way we can keep all that food chilled, so Im gonna look around, there must have some kinda of chill table or !? It was really hot this year, almost made it unbearable ( I hate the heat ). I will keep my mind open for ways I can help finding donation for the raffles. ( maybe a gift cards, maybe a service ) . I also think the picnic needs to be focused on too ( like raffles for the kids :) or a clown or maybe even contest , maybe a parade in the park ) maybe a speaker phone to announce the winners ? Maybe a real big map where every one can sign in !? Once again I think the picnics have been GREAT and Thank you, just feel like I should find a way to contribute. Still think maybe there should be a fee to help with costs, its going to keep growing ! :) Wish I had some land :) Next year I want to help with setup so count me in. P.S I found the girl who told me a secret and gave me a kiss :). What a soul touching moment !!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with Patrick's comment below that the picnic always goes too fast.
Is it possible to start a bit earlier...maybe11am? It would be nice to have a little time to socialize before lunch. It feels like as soon as we arrive, we have to get the food organized. Then it's eat lunch immediately, take pictures, raffle, and run home.
I know I am not around to help out since I am 4 hours away, so you guys that do all the work must make those decisions. It is just an idea. There were so many people at this year's event and I felt I barely go time to meet or talk to them.
A message from Vicky Hyde that was posted onto the Facebook page (in case you don't do the Facebook thing):
I got a Thank You card from Kathy DuVall at FaerieLand Rescue today. Also, please feel free to check out her site and see the Corgis we have helped with our donation! She is also always looking for people interested in adoption or fostering.http://www.faerielandrescue.org/index.htm
