30 year old photo - Rookie, w. baby Lindsay

Rookie loved Lindsay and was always there protecting her. I can't imagine ever worrying about how Rookie would react to the birth of Lindsay, our first baby. I also can't imagine keeping them apart. Prior to our babies, Rookie was always with me. No matter how late I'd be up working, he'd be right there with his regal head on my foot. He was incensed when we came home with a new Corgi, Maggie. Maggie was 14 wks. and Rookie was 6 mo. He tried every which way to keep from entering a room. When she persevered, he pushed her into our pool. Eventually they became inseparable best friends. But, Maggie never was devoted to the babies like Rookie. Maybe Rookie just kept them to himself.

How do I ever get over losing my best friend? I had to make the awful decision to send her over The Bridge on Oct 10 2011. Still to this day I cry over losing her. I do have a new puppy coming Feb…Continue

Thank you for joining and sharing your painting of Ricco. Every day Lucy does something that reminds me of one of my beloved corgis that preceded her. You are very talented and you capture Ricco's eyes better than any photo could.

Even though I now have a new puppy I think about my Ricco daily! I took up painting when I lost him. I guess it has been a sort of therapy for me. This is one of the paintings I have done of him. I miss him terribly!

What an adorable photo! It is something how sweet and innocent they look while sleeping and how animated they are the rest of the time. They leave a big space when they are gone that only can be filled by another...

Oh what a little angel Phinneas was! Love the blanket...I think we all have days that something reminds us of our beloved ones that we have lost! Take Care!

@Carol Powers- Don't stop going on about Yardley. You've lost 2 important members of your family and this is the space to share. All of us in this group have lost precious pets. BTW, Jack and I said never again each time we had time we suffered the death of one of our dogs or cats. Maybe someday you will feel ready for a puppy or a rescue dog. I have to say that doing this always helped fill holes in our hearts.

Hi Wendy; yes it's great that you took the initiative to start this group. My whole page is a Yardley tribute. It's all about him anyway as we don't have any other dogs and we're not sure if we will again. Never say never however. I'm just soooo not over missing him yet. Or his house mate, Heidi our torti cat, who we lost last year too, at age 23 years and 3 months. They were our family. So. See? There I go again : ) Love your profile pic; Lucy has a lovely face.

@Kathy Wiley, loved your comment about Cork the Dork. I didn't even realize that I called him The Gork in my comment. Gorki will always be The Gork to me!
btw, I'm Wendy and my corgi is Lucy. LOL.

@Carol Powers- I'm glad you felt good about sharing "past tense stories." I like the way you put that. It makes me happy to see photos of my old beloved friends. I also love to read everyone's stories. This is a site for corgi lovers & I'd be very surprised if anyone felt burdened by your stories. But, I understand your feelings as I was a little reluctant to start this group because I didn't want the memories to be painful. Instead, many commented that they were happy for this site. I hope it fills a need for others like us. I plan to post more photos and comments when I can.
