30 year old photo - Rookie, w. baby Lindsay

Rookie loved Lindsay and was always there protecting her. I can't imagine ever worrying about how Rookie would react to the birth of Lindsay, our first baby. I also can't imagine keeping them apart. Prior to our babies, Rookie was always with me. No matter how late I'd be up working, he'd be right there with his regal head on my foot. He was incensed when we came home with a new Corgi, Maggie. Maggie was 14 wks. and Rookie was 6 mo. He tried every which way to keep from entering a room. When she persevered, he pushed her into our pool. Eventually they became inseparable best friends. But, Maggie never was devoted to the babies like Rookie. Maybe Rookie just kept them to himself.

How do I ever get over losing my best friend? I had to make the awful decision to send her over The Bridge on Oct 10 2011. Still to this day I cry over losing her. I do have a new puppy coming Feb…Continue

What a beautiful girl, I can see why you chose to keep her name. You can see in her picture she had such bright sparkling eyes.

Tinsel. 1998 - 2009

It was just one year ago, Nov. 23rd, that our beloved Tinsel left us. Never in my life have I known a sweeter, more wonderful little dog.

I got Tinsel as a re-home, she was the brother to my Corgi, Watson. They made such a beautiful pair and brought me so much happiness; even in some really dark days they could always get a smile out of me, especially Tinsel.

I thought to re-name Tinsel when I got her, I didn’t really care for her name but I discovered that no other name fit her, Tinsel fit her name perfectly with eyes and a smile as bright as the decorations on a Christmas tree. So Tinsel she remained.

I once said to my wife “I wonder if Tinsel is really an angel disguised as a Corgi?” She replied “An angel wouldn’t eat poop in the backyard.” Uh, well, there was that. Tinsel wasn’t perfect but she was awfully close.

We lost Watson in March of ‘09 and then Tinsel in November. Too much Corgi sadness for one year. I miss Watson, he was quite a guy, but my heart was stolen by his sister. A year later I still choke up if I talk about her. We still miss you, Tin-doggie and always will.

Remembering my very special Little Boy Phinneas today as it would have been his second Birthday. It is hard to forget when we still have to celebrate Gem's birthday today as they were litter mates!!! Bittersweet to say the least. I know he is having a great Birthday doing all his favorite things. I still miss him sitting by my side.......

Very difficult day. At this time last year I was rushing katie to the emergency room. I remember, telling her "your going to be fine", "your gonna be fine". I knew what today was, and I was dealing with it, untill I found a letter that I had written her the day after. I miss my baby so much. I know that she is waiting for me in a much better place. Untill then my princes, miss you, love you and think about you everyday.

Yes I have been searching the sites and rescues for another corgi for -- but either not feeling that right connection or to far or to expensive..So still searching for another corgi to love -- we want to find another special corgi that needs a home badly to have for our Toby as a companion playmate and as well for me..So the search is still on for now, I know when we find that other special corgi that it will be the perfect fit for our family...

I think about all my corgis all the time. None are replaceable. But the memories now make me smile and Jack and I still laugh about the antics of all of them. But adding new Corgis to our family have eased the pain and we are able to look back at the wonderful lives of all our Corgis, though a few left us too young.

Yes time helps but the memories still shake us now and then. Focusing on the new one helps too. They are amazing little dogs that are not soon forgotten!
