Sparty the tri-colored corgi is allergic to almost everything. After a few bouts of him scratching to the point of having open sores we had him tested. We live close to Michigan State Univ. which has a great Vet school so we went there. They said they don't see many corgis with allergies. Sparty was allergic to a huge list of things (like dust, grass, fleas, and dandelions) and we have been giving him monthly allergy shots for about 6 years. He does really well except that twice a year we have to supplement with predisone. Sometimes he seems more hypesensitive then normal but otherwise he is pretty healthy. We are glad we had him tested.

Hey, I think my corgi is allergic to corn or something in certain dog foods, I just had to switch her over to Blue Buffalo!! She also loves the grass but sneezes when she is in it too much.

Since Corkys been on the Duck and potato he doesnt seem to have the strong smell that i think came from the venison and i know a fishy smell came from the fish! The lamb and brown rice would probably good also for not making them stinky! And he loves it, i put it in his dish this morning he gobbled it up and came over and belched on me!

Jenny do you have any pet boutique stores near your house that may carry Natural Balance or may be able to order it for you? Just a thought, I know it is only sold at Petco by me and I perfer to shop at Petsmart. I just inquired at one of the new pet boutiques by me to see if they could order it.

My little Molly is allergic to grass and it is one of the items she gets immunized for in her allergy shots that she gets weekly. What the doctor said to do was try to wash her feet when she comes in the house...it sounds good but I mostly don't do it due to time and the fact that I would have to chase her down.

As for food she is on a raw meat diet and I feed her Primal. It is pretty pricey but it seems to be slowly working with helping her not chew her paws as much as long as I monitor the rest of what she eats.

I also get Natural Balance Duck and Potato Treats too, I get the ones for small breed though, I used to get the regular sized ones but they just seem to big for Lance he doesnt chew them very well and are hard to break up but the ones for the small breed are cute little bone shaped, just perfect size!

I found natural balance at Petco. Yes you would be surprised by the stuff treats have in them, even ones that are coated with different things. Make sure you read the labels! The oatmeal shampoos help a little too to give them some relief in the beginning. You have to let them sit in it for at least 10 mins which can be a trial! But if you dont know what is causing the reaction you have to start somewhere, so eliminate everything and then slowly introduce it back depending on the reaction. Corkys ears where bright pink inside when he was reacting. I would have to chek his teeth cuz he would get a build up of hair around the base of his teeth from biting himself. i called it his hair braces! Ewww it was gross. But no more!

I just bought some salmon oil today, and was sitting here thinking does the salmon oil give them fishy breath? Lance was chewing on his paw last fall and the vet put him on benadryl which did seem to help, but ever since we have had him he has had dry itching skin. He is eating Natural Balance Duck and Potatoe. He does sneeze when hes out in the grass, so I supsect he is allergic to grass, although over the winter he was sneezing out in the snow too, cant be allergic to snow, lol? So far his allergies seem to be under control just hope it stays that way.
