Hmm...I'd say have his thyroid checked, but you said she's active so it doesn't sound like hypothyroidism. My dog is also on Blue Buffalo (though the Wilderness kind, not weight management, as he should be). We've had him for 3 weeks and he seems slimmer, and he can jump on the couch now! I'm getting him weighed on Thursday, so we'll see. Maybe sub 1/4 cup for green beans?

Emily,  we were giving Maxine 1/2 cup in the morning and then 1/2 cup at night.  When we switched her to Blue Buffalo weight management we kept her feedings  1/2 cup according to the package.  The Science Diet program calls for 4 1/2 cup packets a day---2 in the morning and 2 at night.

I don't  remember if I mentioned it I only give chloe 3/4 c of food per day 1/2 a.m n  1/4 p.m. I was told by my vet don't go by the labels their selling you food not healthy diet..................chloe is going to be 3 and she weighs 24lbs and YES she does sometimes look bigger than her friends but it's only my husband and I and are Havanese (and he's not tall eough to reach the counters YET) so i know she not getrting extra's and I can still feel her ribs..............Rosemary

Hello all,  My corgi,Maxine is 3 yrs old and weighs 34 pds.  We've stopped all treats except her dentastik once a day.  She gets green beans and carrots for treats.  We were feeding her Blue Buffalo weight management without any success.  We switched her to the Science Diet wieght loss program and still she seems to be gaining and not losing.  She goes for walks twice a day and is very active when she is in the yard.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the advice! I'm feeding him Blue Buffalo Wilderness. I'm sure it's much healthier than what he was given in his last home! They were feeding him pasta as a treat...yikes!

Part Two

I started my girl with 2/3 of a cuip when she was 18months.....................right how she's be 3 in oct and is 24 lbs....................the food break down is 1/2c in the a.m. and 1/4 in the p.m.. If you find your pup putting on weigh too fast cut the food down by 1/4c and replace with Cherrios Multi Grain..............a recomendation of a trainer .

Emily, All corgi's want too be Fatties. They look at you with those pathetic eyes of their's as if sayinf "Feed Me, Mama". No dice. I had 1 fatty who I thought was the cutest gir, my vet put her on precripition food and she still gain wieght. Well I have to be honest with you it's taken me 3 years to realize I loved her to death, killing her slowly with food. She broke my heart when she crossed over but I've done a lot of research about obesity in Corgi's. It's terrible.

Use Good Food......I like A HIGH QUALITY FOOD WITH VERY LITTLE BY PRODUCTS. Nature's valance is good and so re some of the organice. I give them fish, venison, bison, chicken. NO Treats other than carrot, green beans(xould be frozen) apple. sweet potato,banana..............in small amounts...........in the summer..........chicy cubes...................chicken broth in ice cube trays , they love this.,
