Well...appt with vet today, Sonny weighed 40.8 pounds YIKES! No more eating smaller amounts of Lucky's food, we need to switch to the lo cal stuff (YUM YUM) He celebrated by coming home and eating the arugula out of the planter on the deck! He also steals the weeds out of the weed pile when someone sees fit to weed, I don't know that this will work, but am willing to give it a try. Will keep you posted. Maybe he needs hynosis!!
Had an appointment with the vet, and he said even though Mozi has gained weight instead of lost, she feels leaner and looks great. She can outrun me on the bicycle, so I guess that means she's doing well!
Miranda is on the heavier side of life too. We cut her food down and switched her to lower calorie food. I am not sure how much she has lost, it has been over a month. She looks the same to me but the behavior is very different. She now jumps on the couch, she jumps into the car, she runs further. As long as she is healthy I am happy, and she seems to be doing very well.
Tallulah is fat too. Her doctor said she should be no more than 26 lbs. He told me to cut out 25% food intake. I now feed her 1/4 c of Wellness in the morning and 1/2 c in the evening. I stopped feeding her 1/4 c at lunch. Looks like it's working though I do need to get her on the scale one of these days!! :-D ^-^
Twinkie is doing well on her new diet of kibble suplimented with peas and carrots, FRENCH CUT green beans and pumpkin. I was in the frozen vegi section trying to decide if there was anything else to add to the line-up. I chose turnip greens with diced turnips. I thought it sounded okay and gave it a go yesterday. Twinkie was NOT amused! She kept going to the bowl and putting her ears down. Once I thought I even heard her growl a bit. Needless to say, I have abandoned the turnip experiment. Back to the drawing board!
I am so excited to hear about Bunny's progress. We have been trying to "fill" Twinkie up the pumpkin puree and peas & carrots added to her small ration of kibble. She seems to really like it. I am excited to hear about all of the different things you have tried. Twinkie didn't like the first green beans we tried so now we are going to give French Cut a try :o) We will keep up the fight!
PS- There was so much in the big can of pumpkin that we used a scoop to portion it out onto a cookie sheet and froze it in balls to pull some out nightly. We discovered she really likes them as a treat (for outside enjoyment). Yummy!
Hello Everyone,
Just a happy update on Bunny's weight! She's lost 5 lbs so far on the half portion of dry kibble for seniors and veggies (canned pumpkin, frozen greenbeans, lettuce, apple slices, other water based veggies).
We've discovered she isn't fond of spinach, kale, swiss chard; loves asparagus, romaine lettuce (the crunchy ribs and center of the head are the best!), carrots (buy them by the 5-lb bag), etc.
Also clear of heartworms - had her rechecked yesterday and her torn ACL is all healed!
Woo-hoo! Love that dog!
has anyone tried the brake fast blue food bowl, to slow your corgi down while they eat? Its sold on the 'shop' page and I've seen it advertised elsewhere also. Just wondering if it works or the dogs will eat?
