I cut Maxie down to 1/3 cup of the dry food twice a day, and I use a nutro choice food that is for less active overweight dogs, it seems to work better than the actual "diet" dog foods along with her green beens since her exercise is limited due to her hip dysplasia but she had lost 4 lbs at her last vet visit - I know it is very frustrating - good luck!

Cheyenne is up to 40 lbs! I am only feeding her 1/2 cup dry in the a.m. and 1/2 cup dry in the p.m. We play frisbee and go for walks, but it is getting so humid in Oklahoma right now, that outdoor activities are a bit dicey right now. Suggestions??? I've got to get some weight off her.
The Sunshine Corgi Rescue workers told me to use unsalted or no salt green beens, I use those along with a nutro choice food that is for overweight and less active dogs and Maxie has actually started to lose weight - 4lbs to start.
We use the following ration roughly. Green Beans are basically "free" food so they can always have more....Green beans 7 to 8 ounces (we use canned) and about 4 ounces of cottage cheese. We add an extra lap on the walk and "poof" smaller JR dog, my girl has never had a weight issue. This is not a diet that you want to use far beyond 7 - 10 days. But be aware mine two love the cottage cheese so much they begggg for it. My skinny girl is almost like "why does he get the good food"....she would rather have the diet food than her doggy food. PS we feed our dogs in seperate rooms of the house so big boy does not get her food as well as his own.
