Hometown:
Clare, Michigan
About Me:
I own two pembrokes, Riley and Gus. I am a veterinarian at a mixed animal practice and enjoy the outdoors. In my free time I like playing sports, horseback riding, reading, and of course taking my poochies to the park.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Riley was my first corgi. He's has been the most amazing companion and I really don't think I could have made it without him there as a confidant. Just seeing his smile when I walk through the door can erase an entire horrible day. We recently added Gus to our family. I thought Riley would enjoy the company. It was a little rough the first week and a half but Riley loves having a brother to play with now
I have:
Pembroke

Happy New Year!

I thought I would take some time to write a quick update on Riley's surgery. He was still lame from time to time on his right leg while his left seemed to heal fine. My parents actually watched Riley for me during my finals week which was nice and allowed me to concentrate on studying.

The day of Riley's recheck I took him into the clinic early since I had the surgery done at MSU. That allowed me to help with a surgery in the food animal clinic while I was waiting for his appointment… Continue

It has been forever since my last update!

Sooo much has happened since I wrote at the beginning of the summer. I'm now over half way through my first semester of my second year of vet school. Riley is about 9 months old and just had major surgery. Unfortunately, he had to have a bilateral ulnar osteotomy. Basically, his growth plates in his ulnas closed before the ones in his radii. So they went in, cut both his ulnas in half, and drove a pin through the two pieces leaving a space in there to allow the bone to elongate. That was 3… Continue

Well, time for an update. I moved last Saturday for my internship this summer. The trip was 160 miles one way and of course, on my way down, the fuel pump went out on my truck, and they found a bad wheel bearing = $1800.00 - There goes a good chunk of change.

So I'm all settled in now. The new apartment isn't bad, it'll work for 3 months. The job is pretty good, and the people are lots of fun! As for the important part - Riley is doing great! I continue to be amazed with him. He's… Continue

Home at last!

Well, everything went off without a hitch yesterday! I got to the airport at around 9:30 and Riley's flight got in at 9:35. By 10:05 I was walking out the door with the carrier in hand. Unfortunately, the airline's scissors broke, so they didn't have any to cut the zip ties with! Thankfully, my resourceful boyfriend happened to have his cigar lighter on him - butane will burn through anything! Those ties were off in a matter of miliseconds!

Riley was a little hesitant to come out of… Continue

What else can I do to waste time...

I just blogged yesterday about how Riley is finally flying in today, but his flight doesn't get in until 9:35 tonight! At least he is on a direct flight - that way he doesn't have to spend a really long time in his crate.

I slept in as late as possible today - yeah, that meant 8:30. Apparently my biological clock still hasn't reset since school ended. So I got up for a while, watched some TV and then fell back asleep for a while. I'm desperately trying to come up with other things to… Continue

I'm from Michigan too! Your the first that I know of that lives in Michigan besides me!!! I'm so, so, so, happy! I'm from Ann Arbor though... not Lansing. There is another person on mycorgi.com that is from Michigan! Her name is Mindy! She's one of my friends on this site, I don't really know her though! :)

Hi Lindsay! What a great note to get, I love that you recognized George - wow. How exciting that Riley is coming to Michigan soon, congratulations!

Stephanie is a fantastic breeder (My husband Michael and I wrote a bit about the experience on her website, if you can find that on her feedback area) and I guarantee you will be pleased in the results with Riley.

I'm looking forward to seeing more pics of your little guy as he gets bigger (you're so right, we thought George looked like a hamster when we got his first pics too!) and if you like, email me at rkelso33@gmail.com if I can answer any questions. Raising a puppy - much less a corgi puppy - is incredibly rewarding and a whole lot of work, but worth every minute.
