About My Corgi(s):
We had two very spolied cardigan corgis - AJ (Mother) and JR (Son). They had us trained well! We got AJ from a wonderful breeder in Havana Florida and when she had a litter of puppies we kept our JR. We lost both of our beloved babies in 2012.

Our recent addition are Missy and Sammy. Missy is from our original breeder in Havana, Florida and our Sammy is from a great breader around Ocala, Florida.

My Girl Sick

Don't post often but looking for input.....My female spent the day outside yesterday and last night she had tummy upset. Thow ups only. She threw up about 4 or 5 times and seemed very weak, as any of us would be. We checked her gums which were still pink so I do not think she was dehydrated. She drank some water and ate a little yogurt and about 40 minutes later threw up. She did okay during the night, no accidents but still lethargic and weak this morning. We called our vet at 7:30 am, they… Continue

Portable Carrier -JR says I think not!!!

Posted on June 25, 2009 at 10:03pm 8 Comments

My husband and I have a RV which our two babies LOVE. We recently purchased a nylon carrier with the zippers in the front for our big boy to hang out in when they are in the RV alone (needless to say he jumps and barks a great deal when we are not around..some RVers in adjoing spaces have been quite entertained). Much to our dismay the first go in the carrier JR got out. I had said to my husband I felt that he would likely chew his way out but much to my surprise, he must be able to work… Continue

We're not one dog people either.  After Winston died on August 12th I was absolutely heartbroken and even though we still had our West Highland Terrier and Beagle Foxhound I could find no solace.   We started searching for a new Pembroke within a couple of weeks.  Lots of people told me the only way to mend a broken heart was to get a new puppy or rescue another Corgi and even though I was crying every day for Winston (like I'd lost a child) I knew in my heart it was true.  When I play with Wilson and watch his total cuteness it doesn't make me feel sad.  I still cry for Winston (I know it's been 15 weeks) but it's less and less and I know that having Wilson is filling the empty place left by Winston.  I definitely recommend getting a new Corgi when you lose one.  I'm sorry you lost your JR to an accident.   I know he and AJ had wonderful lives with you and your two new babies have hit the jackpot with someone like you !  Thank you for sharing.  JOYCE

Do you still have JR and AJ ?  Sammy and Missy are adorable.   We haven't had a puppy for 10 1/2 years so we're being kept on our toes too !  It's a lot of work, but worth it to end up with a well behaved adult Corgi !

Dear Michelle,

Thanks for your email.  I was happy to find the MyCorgi.com at this time.  I think that it will help me through this transition.  I am putting applications in to several rescue groups.  Hopefully I'll find some cardis who need a good home and want to own 2 humans.  My husband and I miss our girls.  But we had a long, long party with them.

Your dogs look like a Tricreek dog named Bear.  He had that pretty brown brindle coat too.

Sincerely,

Laura Orange

We've always brought new pets into the home and fortunately it's always worked out perfectly.  However, your advice about having a new pet meet the current household pets on neutral ground is a really great idea.  It makes GOOD sense.  Once the pets have "met" it would be almost like it was the current pet's idea to have the new one come to the house to visit after they'd already met somewhere else.  (I sound a little crazy I know ! )

It's great that the new Corgi blended in well.  Our little Winston got along with our Westie, our beagle fox hound and our two cats. Basically he loved everyone !  The beagle fox hound and the two cats came into our home after Winston.  I do wonder if we'd included a new Corgi, male or female, how he would have responded.  He was a very docile male.   I'd like to find a Corgi, somewhere between the age of one and five.  I know we could get a new puppy anytime, but there are Corgis out there that need rescuing and although I'm sure it wouldn't be an easy process, it's something we'd truly consider.   Any ideas you have about incorporating a new Corgi would be appreciated.
