About My Corgi(s):
We currently have 2 corgis. Lucky was about 9 months old when rescued from a snowbank on Christmas Eve 2001, he has had back surgery after being totally paralyzed and got his new wheels 6/17/10! He has been using a ramp to get up the front steps for about 9 months. Sonny came to us 4/26/09, when his family did not want to take him with them when they moved. He was 8 and never trained, socialized or taught to play! After a year, he still doesn't play or FRAP, but no longer stays in the back room.

disaster averted!

Posted on July 13, 2010 at 10:12am 3 Comments

YIKES! Dogs do roll in everything! We had a short-lived (thank goodness) septic problem, the pipe from the house to the septic tank was somehow crushed by rock. The corgi boys, delighted in rolling in the muck before it could be cleaned up totally, snacks were also tried - YUK! Hot hot day, my poor husband and our origanal contracter who came to help, and very excited dogs who did NOT want to remain on the porch caged in. Still a little more work to do today, at least it is cooler today. Boy,… Continue

Cuts on the neck

Posted on July 4, 2010 at 5:41pm 3 Comments

Well, we haven't had to worry about a corgi with cuts of any kind for at least 4 years! Lucky has been crippled, and when we rescued Sonny a year ago, he just kinda stayed under the desk for a couple of months and then right with us. Well...he discovered the large rocks on the South side of the front yard a couple months ago and likes to climb them, and he climbs around all over the place now. Today we discover blood on his neck, doessn't appear to be a puncture wound or to have come from…

Dogs on Carts or Wheels

Posted on May 5, 2010 at 10:49am 6 Comments

Our Lucky is in need of a cart, or wheels. Has anyone had experience with a dog on a cart? I know it is more humane than having him drag his hind end around, but I worry that once he is mobile again he will run over the cat and the other corgi in his exuberance! He used to be our herder and ball player, and I would love to give him back that ability if that is possible. We live in the country, so he has been quite isolated lately. Any information would be helpful, all the vets say is that he… Continue

Carol, I will check the breeder out this eve. I'm getting ready to leave and go babysit grandchildren for 4 days:) Sage is coming along to help me! Wynn seems to be getting better but we had to add potassium to his new bladder stone diet and then he ran a fever and is also on anitbiotics...I can't imagine how difficult it must have been trying to take care of 2 aging corgis in carts and having surgery...lucky for them they had you so they could have a good life. I hope you find the perfect pup...

Oh Carol, I am so sorry for your loss...I can only imagine the heartbreak.

I am no longer breeding. I wanted to breed Sage but I can't find a good enough male for my sweet girl...so I may not be carrying on the bloodline. This will be the last year I would even consider breeding her before she gets too old.

My rescue Teddy is getting older(about 11) and Wynn is over 9 with a bladder stone. Although they are in fairly good health...I just wish Corgis could live much longer...

Take care and it was great to hear from you!

Carol, I am so sorry to read that your pups have gone to the rainbow bridge.  (((((Hugs)))))

I know how hard it is, our cardigan welsh corgi, Lance went to the rainbow bridge five months ago yesterday, so very hard.  You gave your pups a good life, we never have enough time with them.

Thanks I am going to measure him tonight. He is a trooper so I am going to push for the 2 years! In hopes he is comfortable and enjoys every minute of it! I am seeing the oncologist on Tuesday and I will for sure update everyone. I will check out that book too. Thanks again. :)

I will look into that too. I feel so overwhelmed with all of this. This website is a huge help, finding people that have such great advice and encouraging words. He started his chemo the night we found out, so on Tuesday night. His lymph nodes have gone down to 1/4 the size they were. He is doing okay at the moment. I am just so worried about when it starts to get worse. I constantly worry. I am taking him to a specialist on Tuesday to get some sort of prognosis. Duvall is a little East of Redmond. Do you know where North Bend and Carnation are? Duvall is north of Carnation. Whidbey Island is not all that far. I used to live up North in Bellingham. I am going to go look at Corgiaid right now. Thank you so much. I hope Lucky enjoys having mobility again!

Thanks I just joined the Wa state Corgi board. It's so nice to have such support. I am actually looking at plans and such for a wheelchair. My boyfriends grandfather is going to build him one. I hope it makes a difference. I just feel so bad that he is laying around all the time.
