I am just wondering about other people who crate their corgis overnight with the door closed.  My Tilly, now 9 months old, loves going in there at bedtime and also sleeps there during the day if she…Continue

I have posted before about Tilly chasing cars, and some of you didn't like the way I was training her to stop doing it.  You will like that I now use a tuna fish can filled with pebbles, covered with…Continue

Tilly, my 7 month old tri color Pembroke, is a great dog.  She has not destroyed anything, not shoes, or electrical cables, chair legs or anything.  She is the best puppy yet.  She's had several…Continue

I don't know if I'm allowed to do this or not, but I wanted to let people know that I've started a new facebook group called "Corgi's gone crazy!"  It's for people who have corgi's with difficult behaviours and their owners are frustrated and need ideas.  I am one of those owners!  I have posted my difficult Tilly problems and no one seems to be able to help me.  I've got unique problems apparently.  But I bet I'm not alone in these struggles.  Tilly has been by far THE most difficult dog ever…See More

Crate size

I know this seems like a trivial post, but I want to purchase a second crate for Tilly, 27 lbs, that I can take to our cottage this summer. I will be using the one we have as well, but using the second one for inside of our tent.  At the moment I have a large metal one with a slide out bottom.  She really doesn't need this much space but she can do anything in it, lots of room.  I saw a crate today, and hemmed and hawed as to whether she would fit in there or not.  I decided not.  I'd like to…See More

About Me:
Married, have 2 adult children. Worked in a veterinary clinic for 15 years, vet assistant/receptionist, have had 5 dogs, 2 golden retrievers, 2 corgis, one lab/border collie. Also have dog obedience experience as a volunteer many years ago.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
I have Tilly, a 4.5 month old tricolor Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Super intelligent, to her detriment sometimes! Very active, loves to tell me all kinds of things, as she is very vocal, barking but other adorable noises that she makes as well. She could go for long hikes and not be tired. She was swimming at the tender age of 9 weeks old. She swims in ditches, walks through every single puddle, roars through ponds...just loves the water. I call her my golden retriever with short legs and she's my new model of exercise equipment. She needs two walks a day which equals about 3 hours. But I can't take my Golden on two walks, because she has hip dysplasia. I'm always sad to leave her at home for the second walk. Tilly is a bleeder, her spay took much longer than it was supposed to. She also seems to have a night vision problem, refuses to go down the outside stairs at night unless I come with her, right by her side. She is a wonderful little dog with sassy attitude and spunk. AND my husband just loves her!

Dominant corgi's

Posted on March 6, 2015 at 10:30am 8 Comments

 The topic of discussion is "dominance".  I have had dogs for most of my life. My first corgi (Torgi)  was definitely that, dominant, but because I was so young (13), and had had no training on the subject, just assumed that this was who he was and that was that. Then a lab/border collie, and  then consecutively two golden retrievers, one whom I still have, but all definitely NOT dominant!  And now I have Tilly, the dominant wanna be tri-colored Pembroke Welsh Corgi!  What a great…
