My regular vet called today and suggests running a bile test on Sally to test for the shunt. It's actually a pretty simple blood test, and I'm hoping it will give us a better idea of what's going on.
In the meantime, Sally is begging to run around and play, and doesn't understand why I won't play with her. I've bought her a ton of chew toys and the like to try to distract her and keep her occupied until she has the go ahead to run run run.

We're still waiting to take Sally to the vet for further testing, but the more that I think about it the more that her symptoms fit really well with a dog that has a liver shunt.
Sally has actually been to the doctor two other times, the first for a bad case of diarrhea, and the second because of vomiting. Neither case in itself would indicate a liver shunt, but put together with the collapse and apparent seizure, and it really fits the bill.
I'm hoping that it's the kind that's…

This morning Sally collapsed after our walk and couldn't move. I carried her up the stairs to our apartment and she was still unresponsive, she couldn't move at all. As I raced her to the vet she began to jerk around uncontrollably and her eyes glassed over. She started to get a little better as the vet looked her over and was able to stand on her legs again by the time they were done examining her. The vet is going to keep her overnight and run bloodwork on her to try to find out a…

Sally healed really well from the spay, but now is sick with a virus. She probably picked it up from the dog park. She did have diarrhea, but now seems constipated and won't go poo at all. We've already seen the vet, but I'll probably call tomorrow if she doesn't regulate soon!
Other than that, she seems corgi happy

My biggest challenge of the weekend has been keeping Sally from running after her being spayed. She doesn't understand why she can't play like we usually do, and she's been doing a lot of whining.
I'm kind of depressed though, because I live on the Gulf Coast and it might not be too long before our beautiful beaches are covered in oil.

Today was our first time we were able to go to the dog beach. iSally wasn't interested in the water at all at first, then tentatively put a paw in to go after a stick. After awhile I was able to get her corgi-leg deep into the water. Then, I decided to go sit at one of the benches with her, she must have been worried that we were going to leave because she did her corgi run and jumped straight into the water. She was a great little swimmer! We didn't stay for too long after that because I was…

I got to spend all of today with Sally. She really enjoyed going to the store with me to pick up her new travel harness so that I can strap her into the jeep more securely and not have to worry as much. She loved being able to be in the seat on not having to ride in the crate or on the floor! Of course she also loved personally greeting everyone she met in the store. She's outgrown her puppy collar so we got to choose another of…

Well, it's Spring Break and as a teacher, I usually look forward to having a week just to catch up on housework, schoolwork, and well... work. This year is different though, with our new corgi. I'm actually spending more time just relaxing with her, and it feels like a true vacation! I had no idea when we got her that corgi's got so much attention, everyone wants to pet her when we're out. (I cant say that she doesn't encourage that behavior!) Anyhow, I'm just really thankful we have her!
