Yes, it is true. On 9/7/11 at 6:00 p.m. Isabella swallowed a sewing needle. YIKES! I saw something in her mouth, got to her, opened her mouth, saw what loooked like a needle or pin, reached for it...gulp, it was GONE! She certainly is a canine vaccuum cleaner with a bite like a vice grip...She has done well with "drop it" and had gotten many other unsavory things in her mouth, but…

Will someone please tell me why I thought Isabella would sink like a hot rock? Ha Ha.
We recently moved to a new house with a pool and I've been so nervous about her falling in. I never leave her unattended in the yard. Her butt has slipped in once, but I fished her out in a split second. I even considered a doggie life vest, just in case...
Now that the weather is warming up, the kids have been in the pool several times. Isabella goes NUTS and runs…

Time for an update!
Isabella started her first, official training class on Monday. This is the basic, beginning class...What fun! While I've heard of clicker training before, I didn't really know how it works. So neat. It's amazing to me that what I thought was dog training - ask dog to do something, dog does it, give reward - is not at all "where it's at"! To simply wait for dog to do what you want, click, then reward is so different, yet so effective! Our first…

Hello all my corgi friends! It's been a while since I have checked in. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and enjoyed time with family, friends and fur babies. Isabella was spoiled rotten with new toys and treats. She loved chewing up all the boxes and wrapping paper. It was great fun! Oh, right before Christmas Isabella went to her first grooming appointment. I am great at baths and have no problems there, but she developed a few mats behind her ears that I didn't want to…

So, tell me, how can one little puppy cause so much grief and so much joy at the same time? Ha!
Yesterday was a day of decorating...you know, the tree, the lights, the decorations. Of course, the kids picked out the largest tree known to mankind, so we had to put it in our living room instead of our family room. While I'll miss sitting on the couch in the darkness, admiring the sights of the twinking lights and the aroma of our Christmas tree, I'm sure it will be safer out of…

Yesterday, Isabella met my brother's yellow lab, Daisy and my parents' long-haired dachshund, Sophie. Both of them are 8-9 years old and already know each other. They both came over (at the same time!) to meet Isabella. Isabella did great! She and Daisy had a blast! It was so fun seeing her play with the "big dog". Daisy was really gentle and I think had great fun playing with a puppy. Sophie, on the other hand, wanted nothing to do with it! She wasn't socialized with other dogs as a pup and…

I can't believe we've had Isabella for 6 weeks already! The time is flying and she is growing leaps and bounds. Her 16th week birthday was 10/19/20, and boy, oh boy did she make it a day to remember!
The morning started as it always does...She had a little time downstairs by herself (gated in the "safe" area) between my husband going upstairs and the kids and I coming down. I was about to finish up getting ready for work when I thought, hey, I better go downstairs and let…
