In the early stages of writing/illustrating a children's book based on Corgi lore!!!

Hello everyone! i hope y'all had a very lovely Christmas, I know I did! I just wanted to share with you guys something i have been thinking a lot about doing, but never really started until now. ever since i got my corgi, Daxter, i've read folk tales about where the corgi breed came from. there is one tale in particular that always caught my attention as a great idea for a children's book. i wrote down the preliminary story (my own version) a while back, but never really did anything with…

This made me tear up....:)

Our 14-year-old dog Abbey died last month. The day after she passed away my 4-year-old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so, and she dictated these words:

Dear God,…

Moving, allergy shots, therapy dog tests......oh my!

Well, goodness, where shall I begin? There's so much going on right now! Daxter completed his first Therapy Dogs Inc. test last week and he passed with flying colors. Thank goodness the tester understood a corgi's need to bark every now and again (a couple of very hyper German Shepherds walked by and felt the need to alert Daxter of their presence, which he then replied that he was aware that they were there...haha.) Besides that little bit of barking, everything went as planned and we're on…

Well, wow.......were ya hungry buddy??

Daxter, my 27 lb., somewhat petite male corgi, just ate 4 chicken necks and half a cornish hen for dinner......i guess he worked up quite an appetite snoozing at my work today. At least he shared the other half of his cornish hen with his sister....sheesh!!…

Hospital may not allow Daxter to become a therapy dog because he's fed raw.......

I don't even know where to begin with this..........okay, so I've been waiting since last October for my application to be approved so that I can take the next step towards Daxter become a therapy dog. He comes with me to work at least 2-3 times a week and is basically known as "the front-door greeter". He's always been extremely friendly and outgoing and absolutely LOVES people, so becoming a therapy dog was an easy decision for me to make. I've gone through all the processes and filled out…

Allergy Testing a HUGE success...so far!!!

So little Dax went in for his allergy testing today at the Veterinary Referral Center of Colorado, a specialty vet hospital in Englewood, CO. Strait off the bat we were both excited to be there. He greeted everyone behind the desk and acted as though he owned the place, even though he had never been there before. They were all very friendly and welcoming. We ended up getting there a bit earlier than I expected so we ended up waiting to see the Doc for about 45 mins. (maybe only 30 mins. I…

Finally getting allergy tested!!!....any last minute advise?

So in my last blog posts I wrote about my corgi Dax, who has had terrible allergic reactions to who-knows-what over the last couple of years. This last August/September was the worst it had ever been. Dax had been on multiple allergy medications (both holistic and regular veterinary medications) and the only thing that had seemed to give him any relief from his constant itching was a double-dose of prednisone. I even had him shaved so that I could attempt some topical meds (which didn't even…

Aaaaahhhhh!!! My Poor Boy!!! *UPDATE*

Well, in my last blog post I wrote a bit about how I was at a loss about what to do about my corgi's horribly itchy skin this year. These are the worst skin allergies I have ever seen on him, and it even got so bad that he was reduced to wearing both socks and a coat to try and protect him from his scratching.....adding even more insult to injury, the poor guy had to be shaved so I could apply topical medication directly onto his skin....(which, i am angry to report, didn't even…

Aaaahhhhhhh! My poor boy!!!

So my poor little corgi boy had to be shaved yesterday...as in, completely shaved! I feel so bad for him....it's basically just adding insult to injury. As anyone who's read my other blog posts knows, Daxter has been struggling greatly with his skin allergies for the last 3 months or so...this is the worst allergic reaction I've ever seen on him. He even got so bad, that he got skin infections. I tried everything from putting socks on his feet to switching his food, to giving him… Continue

Well, he seems to be getting better.....:)

So my last blog post was all about my corgi Dax and how awfully itchy he had been the last few months, from what i expect to be airnorne allergies. He would itch to the point of injuring himself and even had to be put on antibiotics at one point. He has been on and off prednisone for the last year-and-a-half, and has been on more high quality foods than I can count. Well, as a last resort, I decided to switch him over to dehydrated raw food, that was specifically for "allergy dogs". He loved it… Continue

My poor boy is miserable....:(

Wow, my first blog post ever...and what a surprise that it happens to be about one of my dogs. lol. well here I go: my corgi Dax has always been an itchy little boy, but this year has been worse that ever. He is constantly itchy, not just on certain days like last year, and i'm pretty sure that he's has airborne allergies. I've tried several different products to try to relieve his dry skin, everything from switching his food and adding salmon oil to… Continue
