My, my! How time flies! Baby Jackson is a little over 6 months now and it's about time for his neuter surgery.
He's been the best (barking) dog a gal could ask for and he really is my little companion. Everyone in our neighborhood fawns over him and he's doing great with people and other doggies at our local park.
It's been a while since we've been to the vet, but I'd say Jackson is around 20 lbs now. All I know is he feels heavy because I'm still carrying him down the stairs (that's another story! We're working on it! lol). He looks small but is strong and growing more and more fiesty each and every day. Which brings to mind that little voice in the back of my head reminding me it's time for surgery.
I've been traveling a lot with work, but luckily I have gracious friends that are now Jackson's Aunties and Uncles and love watching him for me. As I'm looking into services, my vet charges $400 for the surgery and $65 to microchip. Kind of outrageous, right? I understand I'm not shopping for a used car here, but come on! That's almost what I paid for my little guy!!
I'm thinking of renting a car and going to the Oakland SPCA for $100 surgery and $30 microchipping. I wonder why the prices differ so much??
But, ah, the joys of being a first time pet owner in her early twenties. Haha. This really is a commitment in every single way! But with the most amazing reward of all.... adorable and everlasting companionship. <3
