First of all my dogs are crated when they travel with me 99.9% of the time. Well, today I took Sage along because she was sitting at the door waiting to go to work with me...poor decision as I have 2 kennels borrowed out and a 3rd stored in my garage that wasn't ready to go...yes I still took Sage and I had her leash belted into the back seat. About 10 minutes into our trip 4 deer came out of nowhere...1 to my left, one to my right and 2 directly in front of me:( I gently slammed on the brakes as I wasn't sure how icy it was and luckily the deer finally went in the ditch BUT not before Sage ended up on the floor. This could have been much worse if I had hit one but I guess luck was on my side and Sage was fine...just a reminder of how important crates or dog restraints are to keep our 4 legged ones safe:)

Glad you and Sage were not hurt. Deer in the road can cause alot of danger. Stay safe....
Thanks everyone... This stretch of road almost always has deer along side it just not on the road. I can't imagine hitting such a big beautiful creature. I have hit several raccoons as they dart out from the ditch but a deer is such a beautiful big animal...plus would do much more damage:(
So glad you are both safe!
Glad all is well, including the deer. Life is dangerous to your health :-D
Very glad to hear that Sage, you and the deer are all ok!
Not only can your dog be hurt but in a high speed crash your corgi can become a missile that can kill you flying from the back seat to the front.
thanks for the reminder! glad to hear Sage is ok.
