I have noticed recently (last 2 weeks) Roslyn has started a new behavior.

I have always been quite proud that she is hardly ever destructive (except for the time when she and a friends dog decided that ripping each leg off an octopus toy during tug of war was a good idea), and has always known the difference between her toys and my things.

until recently

Suddenly I find her sleeping on my slippers every morning. Each morning my husband wakes up first to let her out of her crate and feeds her and I get to sleep an extra hour while he does this and takes a shower (wonderful husband). By the time I wake up she is curled up beside my bed on top of my slippers.

This wouldn't be bad except now I find my slippers randomly in her crate, and when I start to play with her she will forget completely about her toys and run into my bedroom or by the couch to fetch a slipper.

Ok, I admit it... It is really really hard to not LMAO and to tell her No and leave it.

The slippers are never chewed on, and only slightly furry by the time I get them back.

Should I be concerned that she has started trying to "possess" my objects, thereby taking my leadership role?

Or am I looking to deeply into it and my slippers are fuzzy and white and do kinda look like toys so she is confusing them for perhaps "my favorite toy"?

I don't actually mind finding my slippers in her crate, but I don't want a potentially unwanted behavior to go unchecked and get out of hand before I start correcting it.

BTW a happy smiling corgi with a white fuzzy slipper in her mouth running up to you like she just found the best thing in the whole world, is probably the best start to any morning!

It's not unusual for our dogs to claim prizes so if we aren't on our toes we might find a remote control, dishware or whatever chewed up in the yard.  Only our youngest is still doing this so I suspect it's something they grow out of.

But I think your dog is having fun with you.  Go for it!  Now my dogs like to play hard to get when I want to harness them up for a walk - this isn't fun for me.  I normally walk Scout and Star but when one or the other is having too much fun at my expense I harness up Spice instead.  I think we are coming to happy medium.

Frosty started doing this randomly with my slippers about 6 months ago.  He has not eaten them, he doesn't claim anything else of mine, never acts dominant or anything.  I really think he just thinks they are stuffed animals that I wear on my feet.  If you don't mind and she is not tearing them up, then don't worry about it.  If it bothers you, pick the slippers up and set them on top of a dresser or night stand when you're not wearing them.  I don't think you need to worry about her snagging your other possessions, she just wants the slippers lol

I think it is cute as long as she isn't eating them.

Young Mocha's favorite napping companion have been my wife's slippers

We've taught him to "respect" the slippers and not treat it as a chew toy.

Till this day he still like to warm up her sleepers in the morning.

Every once in a while we find one near his toys.
