We are in the coldest weather time here in Mn and the last few days have been bad.... in the negatives in the morning and only barely above the zero mark all day long. Edward and Gem seem not too mind except that I haven't been out for their walks with them and they run out to potty and stay out max5min before they start holding up their little paws and then I have to call them to come in. Ed would stay out longer but Gem is usually done and at the door. I'm getting exhausted letting them out for 5min at a time all day long...as they keep wanting to go out and come in...so is it Ok for me to leave them out a little longer even when they start holding up their paws like that or am I doing the right thing by making them come in??? HOW COLD IS TOO COLD FOR A CORGI????

Love the snowflake outfit! My Sparty has delicate paws so when he starts limping I know it is time to end the walk. Our temps in Michigan have not been so bad so far this year. If the actual temps are in the single digits I keep walks short. Mine don't actually spend much time outside on potty breaks no matter what the weather.

Thanks Sam, I'll look for them....... John, I'll get my husband on that doghouse right away..he can add heated flooring and plenty of insulation and a nice skylight to see the geese, ducks and blue jays flying overhead, heck if it's nice enough he could even stay over night in it with them if he gets into trouble!!

a cheaper disposable set would be pawz, they are like balloons, dry them inside after each use. If you have deep pockets, Muttluks are excellent, they have fleece lining, very tight velcro strap and a decent thicker sole for insulation.

Sam, Do you recommend any certain brand of booties?? Did you say you need to keep the booties dry?? Not a problem now, but when it warms up it will be a challenge....

If there's salt on the road, then a set of booties is much needed. When it's wet snow and not dry, it's better to keep them dry, water sips between the paw pads and re-freezes, so you can imagine how painful it is, when they lift their paws, that means either salt got between the pads or water re-freezes. We go for 20 min walk 3 times a day, we stay in the snow path and stay off the concrete sidewalk (less friction), and right now the temp in Toronto is 16f without wind.

Personally, I make mine come in too! Mine love the cold but this is too cold and I am afraid that they will not be able to come in(as I would have to go out and carry in) if they are out longer than 5 mn. Dogs can get frostbite also and I guess that "better safe than sorry" applies for me!
