25. Wait

My breeders were quite impressed with my maturity and knowledge. They also found my determination to own a corgi very admirable. I waited until the last possible second to discuss money with them, and when I finally did, I was surprised. I was expecting Waffle to be over $1000, especially because when I get him in May he'll have had his expensive cryptorchid-neutering, but also because he'll have had all of his shots and money invested in him in general. But, because they were so impressed with my knowledge and determination, he will only cost me $700. He'll cost me less if the surgery is less than $200, and no more than $700 if the surgery is more. They're also gonna throw in a crate! I have only you, the MyCorgi community, to thank for my success! So, thank you all for your support and knowledge. :D

He's from Mike and Terri New of Corizma, is currently 6 months old, and will be 11 months when I bring him home at the end of the upcoming spring semester. Ahh. The next semester will be worth it!

Aw congratulations! That sounds a lot like the steps I took minus being in school and "failing" at emailing (i'm sure you didn't fail!). Except the breeder did accidently delete my email and so I waited 2 weeks before calling her to her relief.

This sounds exciting.
Sounds like you found the right kind of breeder, not in it for the $$$.
I NEVER wanted a dog. Last thing I wanted in my life. Took my wife Lori almost 2 years to talk me into it. I relented on the grounds that the dog was 100% her responsibility. I distinctly remember her saying, at one point, something like, "...I just wish you could have the experience of this feeling..." I ended up falling asleep with my face buried in Siri's ruff. Sirius taught me how to love a dog.
When we lost her, I resolved to be a part of the next dog's life. Gwynnie was waiting for me when I returned from the next desert trip, and some years later, we got Al.
Years ago, if anyone who knew me had predicted that one day, I would be walking around the neighborhood with 2 small dogs and a little bag of dogshit, or sleeping on a mountaintop with my arm around a live mink coat, I'd have asked them if they had any more of that good stuff they'd been smoking. But it happened.
Your journey will be as unpredictable as ours has been. We wish you more ups than downs, and hope that your adventures together will bring as much joy and good companionship. Remember that anytime you love someone, you open yourself to being hurt. Friends reject you, leave, move on, die. Sometimes they stick around 'til they die. Nothing lasts forever. When you love someone, it doesn't have to.

Yay!! So glad that you're getting your Corgi!! I'm a bit like you - a uni student who has always wanted a Corgi.

$700 is a great price too!

He and Potus could be cousins (or brothers, seeing as Potus's siblings don't look much like him) Keep us posted on every development!

What a lovely boy! I am so happy for you. We brought Madoc home in May also-- you'll have the BEST summer with Waffle!

Oh, how wonderful! And he'll be older which will make house-breaking so much easier. He's a very handsome guy; he's got a masculine face. And red-and-white, just like you wanted.
