H O L Y C R A P. I am trying to teach Waffle some more tricks. When I was teaching him "Wafflecopter", he would spin once and I would say "do it again", and he would spin again. Now he spins twice! I said "do it again" when I was teaching him something else at school and he spun around and I made the connection that he thought "do it again" = "spin". Waffle's birthday came and went and I didn't say anything!  He was 3 on June 20th. It's been SO HOT so we've had a pretty lazy summer so far.  My job search continues so I have very little to occupy myself with besides exercising and entertaining my dog.  (And copious amounts of video gaming.)  Anyways, here are some doodles... and then some real pictures.

I've had Waffle for 2 years today!

What would I do without him?  Oh goodness.  I don't even want to think about how different my life would be.  

He was with me for graduation this past weekend.  Oh, to think of all the milestones he'll be with me for in the future!…

When I was teaching Waffle to Wafflecopter (spin), I wanted him to spin 2 times in a row, not just one.  So, I would tell him to Wafflecopter, and he'd spin once, then I'd say "Do it again!!!" really excitedly while making the hand motion, and he'd do it. Well, with this, he learned pretty quickly to do Wafflecopter with 2 spins instead of one.  

Now I'm trying to teach him to bow.  I can't quite figure out a way to make him bow, so it's a very slow process trying to capture…

It's Sunday.  He looks like he feels 100% better--maybe 90 or 95%.  He wants to do things now and he isn't okay with not doing them. It's so hard to ignore his frequent requests to play and whining to go outside.  But I can't.  I musn't.  He must stay still, at least for today, and then we can do baby things the rest of the week so we are prepared to return to the hiking circuit.  …

In the meantime, Waffle is recovering well.  I took him on a car ride today.  In hindsight, that was probably an awful idea.  

I'm carrying my 32 pound dog up and down the stairs in broad daylight in front of my whole apartment complex.

He is just sick!  He isn't a princess!  I promise!

Thanks everyone for your well wishes.  He is improving and getting more and more difficult to contain. 

In other news, someone left a tube of cinnamon rolls on the sidewalk and they exploded.  There is icing and dough everywhere and it smells delicious.

Saturday, I went for a hike with my roommate and Waffle.  The trail was super easy--flat, just long (4.5 miles).  We've done it soooo many times before!  We ended up having to cross a small stream which required Waffle climb a 2.5 ft dirt wall. I think that was our mistake.  He hauled himself up there using his upper body and everything seemed fine until we got home.  He spent the rest of the night in his crate voluntarily.  Sunday, thinking he was just tired, we went to our agility lesson.…

I had not even been trying to get Waffle a CGC because we'd never been in an obedience class and I was adamant that we would fail--and was I wrong or what!  Our CGC performance was FLAWLESS.  The trainer giving our test—who has been training dogs for 20 years and has taught countless CGC classes and given countless CGC tests—said that Waffle was the best dog she has ever tested for the CGC.  Wow!

Anyway, we took the CGC at the Virginia Tech Pre-Vet Club Annual Pet Show.  We entered in…

I am getting the purple Dyson vac as a graduation present--it's getting delivered to my apartment on March 14.  I have never been so excited about a cleaning product. 

There was a VERY dog aggressive pit mix at the park today.  She was off leash and Waffle was off leash and we entered the park at the same time on opposite ends.  The park is actually a soccer field, but it’s used as a dog park when there aren’t any soccer players or kids in it.  Not knowing whether the dog was okay or not, we stuck close to the fence and moved as far away as possible.  The other dog’s owner was just kind of standing in the other gate not making any moves or otherwise…

From Waffle and I.

Another shooting at Virginia Tech.  It's the day before finals begin, known as Reading Day, so there's no classes.  Just studying.  I had almost finished a take-home final and needed to go in today to check my work with a book in our department's reading room and turn my test in.  I was going to do this in the afternoon and I was going to park in the Colosseum parking lot so my walk wasn't as long or as cold when I got lunch.  Waffle changed my plans though.  My roommate…

Back in February, Waffle got sick!  His ultimate diagnosis was bacterial gastroenteritis, IVDD between the L3 and L4 vertebrae, and hip dysplasia (CHD) in his back left leg (the right leg if he were facing you).  Five hundred dollars later, he was better, but I had a sour taste in my mouth about the whole thing.  I called my breeder and told her what they said, and she said we would get him looked at by her vet because she didn't like how they diagnosed CHD from a spinal X-ray. I went out of town to move my stuff into a new apartment for school.  I was gone from Wednesday to Friday, and Wednesday morning, I dropped Waffle off at my friends/his breeders' house.  He was not coming with us.  We tripped over him seven times while I was cooking in the kitchen.  I was not about to trip over him 70 times while carrying heavy furniture!  He was excited to be there, but looked very confused when I walked out the door without him.
