She's had pancreatitis before and had heat stroke this summer. She has lameness in her hind legs and pain in her left shoulder. She is lethargic, drinking a lot and has developed a pot belly w/elevated liver enzymes. I just miss my happy, sweet girl. -_- The first vet i took her to last week was not helpful.... kept saying "oh watch out she's overweight, she's headed toward diabetes." Never mind that minus the pot belly she does not even look overweight. Her normal vet is going to see her tomorrow. I've asked them to test her for Cushing's Disease in addition to other tests. I'm just worried, being a nurse doesn't help. -_-

Update 11/3/10:
The new vet thinks honey is most likely having issues with the food we are feeding her. Its Kirklands (costco) weight control food. She indicated that the quality isn't that great. But she did point out that her problems have come with switching her to the weight control formula. She wants to recheck liver enzymes in a month after we have changed her to a higher quality food. I am considering Premium edge Weight Control I. Her pain may be arthritic but she doesn't want to give her pain meds that could further inflame her liver- so I'm buying her a heating pad for her bed. Hehe I'm getting one for Quentin (our cat) too cause I KNOW he's gonna want one too. She also said Cushing's doesn't seem likely because her kidney function looks normal. I'm convinced the food will help a lot--I'm changing Quentin's food too cause his coat looks dull just like hers! Goodbye days of cheap pet food, hello healthier pets! :) Also, I found Dog Food Adviser to be really helpful in comparing dog foods.

I totally understand how she is feeling, as I myself have had ascities with elevated liver enzymes for the past month or so. I can imagine how uncomfortable and miserable she feels. I hope they can figure out what is going on, and that she starts to feel better soon!!
