Nothing is so terrifying as coming home from your spouse/your 30th birthday party to find your house robbed and your corgi missing. (Also finding a man unconscious in the snow just up the block). Luckily I had Saber microchipped and some Good Samaritan found her and took her to the vet. From the sounds of it, likely she heard them kicking the door down. She probably then popped open the guest room door (I'm so glad she knows how to open doors) and hid under the bed. They left the patio door open and she got away from the bad people and hung out on the street corner until someone came and found her. Such a good girl.

So thankful she is ok. What an awful ordeal for all of you.
Thank goodness Saber is ok! How terrifying for all of you. Katie would continue sleeping where ever she happened to be. Max would bark his head off as soon as someone came near the house. As we all know our corgis do not sound like "small" dogs, they have a full on loud bark. And if they did set foot in the house he would greet them with that bark and a full on jump and investigation and not letting them walk away from the spot they are in. Either his bark before they got in would stop them or his actions if they got in would get him hurt or killed I'm sure. He doesn't bite or attack...he is just loud and wants to know exactly who you are before he allows you to walk thru his house..with one of us present it's not a problem.
Saber is fortunately not traumatized in the least. The person who found her took her to a 24 hour emergency vet where they fawned over and babied her until we could get there. She had a good time there and I don't think the vet wanted to give her back.
Unfortunately the unconscious man was a dead man. He had apparently died to a heart attack or stroke while shoveling and we had found him shortly after. :(
So sorry to hear that!! That is so terrifying. I am so glad Saber is okay I hope she wasn't to traumatized. I hope the unconscious man is okay. So glad you at least have Saber back!
OMG! That scares me so much! It's a recurring nightmare for me, here in a middle-class neighborhood bordered to the west by rows of decrepit, crime-ridden apartments and to the north by a meth gang's territory.
I'm SO glad she didn't get stolen (around here that would mean the dog would go straight to some dog-fight guy's pit bulls) or run away and get lost.
Ruby will go out the doggy door (which unfortunately, having been installed for a greyhound, is big enough for a 6-foot-2 man to climb through -- we tested it!), but Cassie refuses to touch it. Neither dog would have the sense to hide under a bed.
Ohhhhhh lordie, sometimes i think i need another German shepherd after all. Do we really ALL need German shepherds?????
I've been burglarized and it is an awful feeling to come home to that. For a long time I thought of it every time I opened the door. In my case they were clearly watching and waited until I took the dog for a walk. Luckily they did shut the door after themselves or the cat would have been out and most likely dead. So glad your pup is safe.
im so glad that she is safe and so is your family! thats so scary! :(
