Lyla took her herding instinct test today and passed with flying colors! It was the first one I'd ever been to and it was very interesting. It was neat to watch the different dogs' reactions to the sheep. Some dogs were more interested in the sheep poo, and others walked in and knew exactly what to do.
Only 4 of the 7 dogs passed, and Lyla passed the 2nd fastest! Yay Ly! The judge wrote on our eval sheet "Good job! She got right to work like she'd being doing this her whole life." It was fun for me because in all honesty, I expected Lyla to be afraid of the sheep and cower and fail! But as soon as she saw the first dog walk out there and work the sheep, she was straining at her leash and making little strangled noises waiting for her turn to go after the sheep.
She's resting on her bed now with the little stuffed sheep she was given for passing. I think she's already managed to rip off an ear. Silly herding dog... sheep aren't for eating!
