Just came home from the World Dog Show in Paris. What an amazing experience! The last time I went to a dog show, it was in an exposition hall back in Hawaii, in the 90s. Needless to say, this show was bigger by several orders of magnitude.

It was inspiring to see not just beautiful animals, but the people who loved and cherished them so very much. You could just feel the hopeful and happy energy buzzing throughout the place. And what a huge place it was. By the end, my legs were crying for mercy. Not a lot of available ringside seats, as you might have imagined. Totally worth the pain.

We sat through a couple classes of Pembrokes, and Open/Intermediate/Champion Male Cardigans. I was blown away by how zen the dogs were, even in the presence of thousands of people and other dogs milling around. The "corgi corner" was a great place in which to hang out; so many hard-working dogs just chillaxing until their turn in the ring.

One small disappointment was that the Cardigan male we'd come to "cheer" for, Cymraeg Ci's Golddigger, was apparently late to the ring and we didn't get to see him compete in the Champion Males class. I did get to see him from behind as he briskly walked away, though. What a beautiful coat that dog has! *drool*

While I have nowhere near the necessary resources, time and money to start showing my boy in the near future, I definitely plan on visiting more of the show scene out here in France. But next time, I'm going to take a ringside seat even if it means using karate for it. My knees are KILLING me!
