So tomorrow my fiancee and I leave for Vegas. We are meeting with 35 close friends and family, getting married and having a nice hiking honeymoon in the national parks.

This means we have to kennel Roslyn for almost 2 weeks. Up until now i was just mildly worried and making plans for her to be as comfortable as possible. She will be kenneled by the same people that taught our obedience classes (it is 2 officers that lead the K9 unit... so she will be surrounded by GSD) and also my fiancees parents are kenneling their Brittany with Roz.

But now... as I look at her happy little face, it breaks my heart that i have to leave her for so long. I wish she could go with us and explore Zion, Bryce and the other parks. I want to take pictures like John Wolff and have Roslyn conquering the Emerald pools and weeping rocks. Her red fluffy hair gently swaying with the slight canyon breeze.
alas, it is not to be. :*(

The rest of my animals (2 cats, bunny, and hermit crabs) will be staying with the house sitter. She has to work and doesn't really have time experience with dogs, which is why Roslyn is being kenneled. And yes, i will miss my other pets a ton (with the exception of Nate's fat, lazy cat *wink). It's just that i have left them before... this will be the first for Roz.

To be completely honest, i never knew how in love i could be with a dog until i had Roslyn. I am an animal lover, but this borders enthrallment (Corgi mind control is a real problem in this household).

How do you handle parting with your beloved corgis?

OMG Corgi MInd Control! I didn't even know this was an issue until now! Is that why I woke up the other night and decided Mina was old enough to sleep in our bed with us now?!

and chris looks at me and went "I thought we were having a romantic get away?" HAH!

I'm from Florida and been to Vegas during the month of May, it wasn't quite summer yet but man.... the dry heat was brutal, since you're in Michigan, be glad that your corgi won't have to go through that sudden climate change, Roslyn is much better off at home :)

Try to think of her going to summer camp! She is a sweetheart that will be ruling the camp by the time you get back I am sure. Congratulations and have a wonderful wedding and trip. Tell her "she will come next time".

Congratulations! I think it is harder on us then on them! Roslyn may think of you but it sounds like she'll have plenty to do! I do understand the missing her part but it sounds like you will be very busy and she will probably have more fun with the GSD and you won't have to worry about her! Have a great time!

I left Yoda with his groomer for 2 weeks for a trip to U.S. I do not think you have anything to worry about. Yoda had a blast there, it is like a summer camp for him. I was kind of disappointed that he was happy but not very very excited to see me. Don't worry, I am sure those K9 officers will do a good job. Roz will be with the people she is familiar with. Think of it as a vacation for her too!
